Question about Samsung Digimax S800 Digital Camera

2 Answers

My camera seems to short out and there are horizontal lines in the pictures.

When I take a picture, horizontal lines appear in the pictures and look worse when enlarged and photoshopping pictures.
They resemble scan lines.

Also, my camera will short. I will try to take a picture and then the camera would instantly shut off, no noises, no lens retracting, and will only turn back on if the batteries are taken out, switched, and put back in.

Get new batteries, if recharging your current batteries does not work (to stop it shorting out).

reduce your shutter exposure, by changing to Manual Mode (M), selecting +/-, and then the left button (flash) around the Menu OK button. Mine works fine at 1s shutter speed, but was showing horizontal lines before that ...

How do I fix horizontal lines on the viewer and pictures of my Olympus SP-560 UZ

If you have both, lines on the display, and on the pictures, I'm afraid something is wring with the sensor, or with the connections to the sensor. That is if you have the same lines on every picture.
If you only have horizontal lines, when taking pictures of bright lights in a dark area, it is just a phenomena of the camera. In almost all digital camera's this can happen.

CASIO EXILIM digital camera photo resolution

The Digimax A7 Doesn't work outdoors, because on top of the camera, try taking a picture, but hold your hand on the top of your camera (Cover it) it's light sensitive. On top their is a built in sensor, the Darker it is the darker the picture is, the lighter, the lighter. If you cover it, (Usually on top) It should work fine outdoor, just don' t cover it indoor. Hope this helped. -CA

Taken pictures appear with horizontal lines

It is certainly the CCD failing. Now you have had it over a year so warranty is out. But there have been instances of certain CCD's being subject to a recall- and the camera being replaced. Give Canon a support a go - you may get lucky.

A horizontal or vertical red line appears on picture.

Red lines are caused by glare. Avoid photographing shiny surfaces that reflect excessive amounts of light into your lens.
