I've found that holding down the auto button will fill up the cup to your liking. Honestly, I'm getting rid of mine as my MIL have just bought me an Elite Keurig.

Yessir, you need a t-disc to use it, because the machine reads the bar code that is imprinted on the aluminum lid of the t-disc to get instructions of how hot the water should be, and how much water should be used for the beverage you're qnting to prepare. no t-disc, no drink, no working machine. it's that simple.
