Erratic behavior Hello. I am having troubles with my mouse AMU18US on my LENOVO 3000 C200 laptop. When you use the mouse on Internet, the pointer goes wild and sometimes it stops. I have to use the touchpad as to move the mouse or wait 2 or 3 seconds until it starts to move again. However, the movement is sitil erratic. You are pointing something and suddenly it goes up or down on the screen. I tried to uninstall the mouse and connect it again, but it does not work. I have WINDOWS XP on my laptop. WHAT CAN I DO?, PLEASE HELP ME!!!Rafael

Re: erratic behavior

I just sprayed my dad's lens cleaner on one end of a Q-tip to clean the lens of the mouse and dried the excess fluid with the other end of the Q-tip. WORKS GREAT :)

Re: erratic behavior

Sounds to me like the optical sensor at the bottom of the mouse has given up.

Or it could be the surface you are using it on. try using it on paper or mousemat or something different and see what happens

Mouse behaving erratically

1. uninstall the mouse and then reinstall the mouse by restarting the PC. Upon restart the mouse should be detected as new hardware and reinstall properly and this should correct the practice behavior of the mouse.
If not then you have a mouse with faulty electronics and needs replacement.

There could be several other factors influencing the behaviour of your optical mouse. Have you tried cleaning the lens underneath and also used a contrasting mouse mat on your table?
The range of this mouse is very limited (3ft) and you might have some interference from other devices around (like cordless phone, wireless devices and so on)

Check the following 2 sites for more troubleshooting ideas. Also the microsoft site referenced below provides some software you can download to diagnose better.

Mouse point has it's own mind.

If it's an older style mouse, it might just need cleaning. If it's optical, sorry, I have no ideas.

When this behavior is observed when using a Logitech product withinWindows® XP, it may be caused by a feature within Windows called"enhanced pointer precision". This feature may conflict with Logitech's software, causing the erratic movement. Enhanced pointerprecision became available in Service Pack 2 and therefore is notapplicable in any version of Windows® XP without Service Pack 2installed. For more information on enhanced pointer precision, please click HERE. If this link does not work, then you should go to Microsoft and search for Knowledge Base article 895550.

Please see these articles from the Logitech database for possible troubleshooting tips as well:
