Unit has a copeland scroll compressor trips out on overload intermitenly
SOURCE: keeps triping breaker in air con unit
I am not an a/c person, but am offerring up this one thing that I've heard.....
there are capacitors that are in the A/C unit's outside (compressors) and in the heating units (typically in the attic). If these get bad they can cause the compressors to have to work super extra hard and that can be what is causing it to get overheated - I'd be very very cautious at this point and spend the buck to have someone come out. If that is the case the compressor may already being in failure mode. We were fortunate. We caught it before ours went totally out, but for years it has been bad and has caused the compressor to work doubletime - call someone on this!
Sorry! :(

the copeland scroll, is without a doubt the best comprssor bar none, it is bothe efficient and a work a holic. there are issues with the goodman, but if you, are aware of the goodman issues, you should know most of them are ticky-tack and be easily repaired
unlike some of the yorks, tuchumsa, or samsungs.
if the rest of the house is good, i would not let this issue slow you down.

SOURCE: my islandaire ptac keeps tripping the breaker what should i look at?
If it were me I would use an amp meter and take an amp reading of the compressor when it is fully loaded. then I would refer to my name plat. which should be located on unit or if you can read label on compressor that is even better. FLA is fully loaded amps. RLA is running load amps, and LRA is locked rotor amps. if your amp readings is close to LRA or higher than FLA then I would recommend changing your compressor, The last thing you want is a compressor burn out.
