SOURCE: phone keeps restarting while charging
Some chargers dont work with this particular model of phone even though they fit. One that works for me is called a I-GO you buy the tip separately from the cord and its a little bit expensive, roughly 40 dollars, but it works lol.
Yes. You are right. Here energy is not the criteria. It is always safe to unplug the charger (when not in use) to prevent the damage of a cell phone due to accidental over load of electricity or short circuits. Moreover Chargers do draw power when plugged in, whether or not a device is actually being charged.
If the charger is plugged in someplace easy to access, like right by where you keep your phone, you should unplug it. But if it would be difficult to have to plug it in every time you need to use it, you'll be fine just leaving it plugged in..and.It still uses energy even when not charging. Any electronic device plugged in a socket uses energy whether it is in use or not.

It looks like battery is damaged... When plugged in to charger phone shouldn't power on. Try put it on charger when on and see if charging icon appear. (top right corner-battery status icon should change -insted of battery to charging.) Battery is fully charged after cca 4 hours, 80% after 2 hours.
SOURCE: Samsung glyde - no response to charging
Find someone else with a glyde and ask them if you can trade them batteries for a day to see if it's a bad battery. ( you can usually buy a battery for $5 on ebay, or up to $20 in your carrier cell phone store)
If the problem follows your old battery, toss it and buy another battery.
And if neither swapping out the charger and the battert solve your problem then its the phone itself. I have called in to our cell companies before and let them know we have a phone that will not hold a charge no matter what battery or charger I use... and they usually replace free it under warranty as long as the phone is less than 12 months old, and the white squares in the battery compartment are still white. (Pink Red means oops! water got in there) and then you’re only getting them to cover replacement if you have cell phone insurance
