Question about Pioneer MEH-P5000 MiniDisc Player

Sony MiniDisc car stereo

I have just bought a Sony Minidisc car sterio, i soon discovered that it is not compatable playing LP recorded disc's, so i recorded a disc for my car in SP. On the display, the disc looks as though it's playing, as the counter is moving, the album name and track playing are all displayed, but no sound? I also have a personal minidisc player which played it with sound! What's wrong? Has it been wired incorrectly? There is sound coming from it when i change the mode to radio though. Would the connectoin for sound from the minidisc be connected different to the radio sound? Hope you can help. My car sterio minidisc model is MDX-C7970R.

It sounds like you have a newer portable minidisc player, and an older deck. There were several upgrades over the years for ATRAC files, and some of the newer recording formats are not compatible with older players.

A MiniDisc recorder would plug into your stereo system just like a regular old cassette recorder would. Line out from deck to line in/play on receiver/amplifier and Line In from deck to "record" / tape line out from amplifier/receiver.

Insert MiniDisc, select Source and you should be ready to hit 'Record' and then 'Play' to start recording.

My Teac MD-H300 minidisc player will not read discs, comes up no disc

Doe the deck play LP discs or only SP discs?
My impression is that it does not support MDLP - which I suspect is your problem.
Does it play discs recorded on that machine?
Let me know if that solves it. If not, I have other thoughts.

No. MZ-n510s cannot play those discs. Buy a HI MD machine or sell the disc.

Sony mds-707 wont play longplay disc

only CERTAIN Sony players will play LP MiniDiscs. You cannot play LP on the original stereo models (JE500's, JE330's, MDS series for the most part). It's only the ones that have a usb port on them or are marked LP2 or LP4 on them. Actually, the cheap plastic NE models can play long play discs. Hope that this helps. Let me know.

Will it play lp

The 330 was a basic unit, I don't think it will play anything recorded in the extended MD recording format. Newer and ES decks do, but check to make certain before buying one.

Mini disc to my laptop

It isn't possible to transfer your music from a minidisc to a computer...Sony made it so you can only transfer from a computer to the minidisc...Very bad engineering, but that is the bad news...

Sharp MD MT-80H(S) not playing sony minidisc 80

I had a similar problem after not using player for several months - "Can't read" message displayed every time I put a recorded minidisc in the player. Seem to have solved it (maybe only temporarily) by opening the player, inserting little finger in at the righthand front and sliding movable mechanism from side to side. It looks to slide on a bar which had maybe picked up dirt or damp. Also tried blowing a warm hairdryer into the slot for a minute or two (take disc out first!) to remove any damp. Working OK at the moment.

Your MD player probably isn't LP capable. Attempting to play an LP recorded MiniDisc in a player that is only SP capable will produce no sound even though the display (time counter, track name) looks like everything is operating properly. Record the MD you were attempting to play in SP and you will get sound.
