Red flaring Hi, my set was recently repaired with many parts replaced in the secondary power supply. In addition the video processor had to be replaced. Now whenever there is any video with a lot of red content it overlaps and shades over the outline of people or objects. No obvious convergence problems. What do you think?

The secondary output voltage comes out from is more than it should be there. That is why, the protection zener diode blows off, as soon as you switch ON the set. First find and repair the power supply regulator, for correct output voltage. Refer its repair book for details. After repair include the zener diode in place. OK.

I have sony model no kv-bm14m40 it blinks two times. The voltage on the CRT base which was supposed to be 200 is 235.what do I have to do to solve this problem. I appreciate any help JJ

Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits
The switched output voltage from the power supply is mor than normal. The normal secondary main supply voltage to this set must be around 135VDC. It is now been exceeded that limit, and the overvoltagg; current protection circuits in the set detects this situation and gives you tow blinks as its indication.
Normally, this fault is common to most of the Sony Trinitron sets. The main cuse for this fault is loose solderings at the SMPS power switching section. Just resolder most of the supected solder terminals by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between the adjecent solder points. If needy, replace the secondary voltage filter capacitor [the electrolytic capacitor fitted across the 135VDC to ground. This must help you. OK.

Re:"shutdown after video comes up the green power light stays on but the set will not shut down while changing channels."

I do not think this has anything to do with logic circuits and video processing. When you stay on one channel the horizontal and vertical alignment circuit works more than if you change channels all the time.
This is just a guess, but have a look at convergence ICs. when you keep changing channels the power amp ICs (or transistors) go on and off, if one of them is defective it will overheat and shut down.
Other possibility is an internal tuner failure. Also test using a DVS or VCR.

Sanyo tv model no. ST-21G1 power indicator is just blinking it does not oscillate the horizontal output. what is the possible problem or parts to be replaced?

Check if Horizontal ouput is shorted.Check if you have B+ (135VDC) power supply and secondary supplies working(12VDC, 5VDC) and check if you have horiz. drive pulse from drive transformer.
A common fault for dead set is the capacitors in the power supply (secondary of transformer) - no 12VDC supply.

Screen will not turn on, power light flashes red. Nothing happens when power button is pushed will not turn set off.

try checking first your tact switch or your power button, then next look for open fuses or low ohm resistor on secondary part of your power supply then check your horizontal and vertical outputs for shortage and open circuits check also your horizontal drive stage.

Rca 32 inch tv

your problem is in red video output circuit.

as you are seeing lines with red color

those lines are called retrace lines.

please check

  • supply to red video output ckt.&red video output transistor.
  • loose crt base or crt base connector.
  • componenrs related to red video output section
  • red signal coming to red video output ckt from signal processor.
  • at last but rare cases crt weak.
  • hopr this will help

good luck

Toshiba tv problem

This looks like a problem either with the powers supply to the video signal processor and with thr power supply to the horizontal section (lack of complete horizontal deflection. This was caused by the voltage and current spikes of the power coming back on rapidly. Now to fix this problem involves coming into contact with hazardous voltages, I would suggest that you not attempt this repair on your own if you do not have a background in electronics. Please take this set to a qualified electronics repair shop
