Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback. Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder. Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed. Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV. Try Using a new VHS tape. If the new tape ejects when press recording, the recording switch inside your VCR could be defective.

you have a Philco, TV\VCR Combo Your problem is the VCR.The rubber band that pulls in the Vhs tape and kicks it out is stretched, or damaged. The TV turns off to protect itself. You need a replacement.If u know how to get inside,look at the right side of the VHS section [you will be facing the back of the TV] be careful! "Electricity HURTS. It will be very hard to find the replacement VHS rubber band. There are 3 bands, replace them ALL!!, not just the damaged one.
Probably cabled wrong.
Make sure the VCR is getting a signal to record.
Put in a movie and get the TV set up to watch it.
Now put in your blank tape and switch the VCR to what you want to record and make sure you can see it on the TV.
VCR is set with blank tape..Bring up vcr control on TV with television set on Chanel #3, go to menu
Follows procedure for progamming date,time start,time finish,chanel and.speed and single recording.finally click on menu and turn vcr off. Vcr lights indicate set for taping,,.Does no start to tape at requested time and lights indication taping ready stays on ??????
