the palm icon came on and after a minute in many languages were prompts telling me to tap the centre of the target, which of course does not respond because the pad does not recognize the tapping. the factory default prompt did not show at all.

i did again what you said and i let go of the power button after the orange palm logo. this is what the palmone website said also. all that i got after i released the power button was a palm powered logo and then the orange logo showed again and then the palm powered logog followed by a prompt to erase all info. I said yes to this and the next prompt was to put the stylus in the centre of the target. of course this didn't work because the screen does not recognize that i am tapping it. i tried this many times. thanks for your help anyway.

If you have tried the soft and hard resets and the touchpad is still not responding, you may need a new digitizer. You can get them on ebay for around $10-12. I just replaced mine and wrote up how to do it in an answer for another touchpad problem that was posted. The digitizer and tools come with no instructions, but I figured it out. Be gentle, and you can probably do the same. If you need more help, write again, and I will write out my process.

The problem could be the touchscreen but, typically, with the Z22 it's more of a configuration problem. I would recommend doing a "hard reset" after syncronizing. To reset the unit to factory specs hold in the reset (in the back) and the power button simultaneously for, at least, five seconds. Instead of the Palm icon you'll see a prompt to push up on the touchpad to reset to factory defaults. Then, go through the entire setup process, including the Digitizer to initialize and calibrate the touchpad. Hopefully, that should restore the touchpad. Otherwise, well, replacing that thing yourself is NOT easy.

You can find replacements easily on eBay.

Just need to make sure that you hold the reset the entire time. Let me describe it a little better. Holding the reset on the back, you're going to press the power button, on the top, and hold it for at least three to five seconds and then let go, but not until AFTER you see the Palm logo. A prompt should come up asking you if you want to reset the unit to factory defaults. If you do not see this prompt, but instead see the Palm logo, you did not do it correctly and performed a simple "soft reset." When you see the prompt, press up on the touchpad on the front of your unit to complete the reset.

A full description of this process (including screen shots) is here on the PalmOne website.

Broken stylus arm is it still possible to get another one and is it possible to fit it myself also new stylus needed as well

The stylus should not be a problem. Without knowing the make and model of the turntable, however, there is no way to respond about hte arm. You have listed this question under the Rotel receiver category, can you pelase supply the ,ake and model of the turntable? Also, supply any numbers that appear on the current stylus so I can verify that either the exact one or a similar substitute is available.

Color wheel failed. Can I fix it myself??

If you contact Optoma and they have the part available then, yes you can fix it yourself. You have to be good at taking things apart and remembering how they go back together. Changing the color wheel assembly is not that hard.

Have an issue with gateway m285 stylus. The tip came out and the comp stopped responding to the pen. Is there a way to repair it or do I need a new one?

No I would not repair it. The tip of most stylus are made of a conductive material that will not scratch the screen. But good luck you can get a new one from pretty much anywhere. I myself got one from Walmart that was a Stylus and a pen. Just be careful because you don't want ink on your screen LOL
Hope this helps

Epson Stylus cx5000 - no power

If you have already tried different, USB cable, different power cable, different USB port you may even go as far as trying it on a different computer and if for any unfortunate circumstance you're still experiencing the same thing chance are its already a broken fuse or broken board on printer. Unfortunately this is a non-user replaceable part. I suggest that you contact Epson support if you printer is still under warranty from the date of purchase they may send you a replacement (brand new or refurbished) otherwise they'll be referring you to a service center in you area.
