Yesterday the hot water went cold after 2 minutes into a shower.I checkAQed the hot water unit and noticed it seems to be damp around the base.it's an Aquamax 315 twin element electric hot water heater. It is only 16 months old.Needless to say we are NOT HAPPY! The warranty on parts is only 12 months! Is there a simple solution? I have released both pressure valves.
Electric hot water heaters are particular to water levels and air pockets. Air pockets (low water levels) can cause the upper element to fail thereby reducing the overall recovery of hot water. Also if this is supplied by a well the incoming water temperature is lower than city water and also maybe adding to your problem. First thing I would check is the upper element. Start there and re-post with updates..

Only two things come to mind. Either the clock is not set to the correct time (which I'm sure it is) or one of the elements most likely the bottom one is not heating for some reason. I would start by leaving the heater on 24 hrs by removing the trippers and switching it on. See if the problem goes away. If it does then focus on the timer settings, give it more warm up time etc. Make sure the clock is set to the right time and keeps time. If the problem persists on a 24 hrs running schedule then focus on the elements. --Turn the power off at the breaker-- and remove the access cover for each of the elements and or thermostats. Check the thermostat settings on each element for reasonableness. Sometimes the thermostat is covered by insulation material. If you need further assistance please write back with more detail. I can walk you through an element checkout if you have an AC volt / ohmmeter but since its new it should been under warranty.

the temp, control valve is getting to hot!!! there for only let so much hot water go thru, did you take the inner parts out when soldering this in, if not you might have damaged it, and if so need to replace the cartdrige
SOURCE: warm water only
You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.
