In less than two weeks my account has been hacked even with a password change. I've deleted the app for now. How do I prevent this if I want to go back onto Facebook?

You may want to enable login approvals on Facebook. This basically add an extra layer of security. After enabling you will have to enter a pin code that is sent to your mobile phone as a text message. You will then use your password and the code sent to you to log in. This will help since only you will know your password AND be able to receive the code on your mobile phone.

How can I get my approval code from a number that is no longer working. Why can't I just log in. I know my password.

You will need to sign in using a saved device that you have previously used in the past. Then you will be able to turn off the Login Approval settings or update your phone number.

According to Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/notes/facebook-engineering/introducing-login-approvals/10150172618258920

"If you ever lose or forget your phone and have login approvals turned on, you will still have the option to authorize your login provided you are accessing your account from a saved device. Having these recognized machines associated with your account prevents lockout and ensures that you can regain access to your profile."

Hope that helps!

Why won't Facebook open on my desk top but I can log in on Google

I'm confused - are you asking about a desktop (ie: PC) or iPad? Actually, in either case, you may need to check your security settings in Facebook using a device with which can login from - it could be you need to allow the iPad login in Facebook security under "Login Approvals" or you may need to use the "code generator". One tip is that you can opt to get approval codes via mobile phone text msg and then use that code on your iPad.

Someone as hacked my facebook account and is inviting people to be my friend and also is carrying on conversations with my friends, I changed my password. What else can be done to stop this person?

Click here to recover your account..

After you recover it, I recommend setting up Login Approvals to ensure it doesn't happen again.

What are login approvals? How do I turn this setting on? Login approvals are an extra security feature similar to login notifications, but with an extra security step. If you turn on login approvals, you'll be asked to enter a special login code each time you try to access your Facebook account from a new computer or mobile phone. After you log in, you'll have the option to give that device a name and save it to your account. You won't have to enter a code when you log into any of these recognized devices.
To turn on login approvals:
  1. Go to your Security Settings page ( 851580_142488495957208_1588909839_n.png > Account Settings > Security)
  2. Click on the Login Approvals section
  3. Check the box and save your changes
A few things to note:
  • You need to have a mobile phone number listed on your account to turn on login approvals. You can add one to your account when you turn on login approvals.
  • If you haven't named the device you're using, you'll be asked to do so when you turn on login approvals. Don't click the Save this device option if you're using a computer that other people use (ex: a library computer).
  • After you turn on login approvals, we need to be able to remember your computer and browser info so we can recognize it next time you log in. Some browser features block this. If you've turned on private browsing or set up your browser to clear your history every time it closes, you might have to enter a code every time you log in. Learn more.

What is an inverification on facebook

A security feature, called Login Approvals, is a two-factor authentication, as it adds a step to the basic user name and password verification.
With Login Approvals, Facebook users can now opt to have the company require that a one-time numeric code be entered along with their user name and password when a log-in attempt is made from devices that users haven't saved as approved ones.
Facebook sends the numeric code as an SMS (text) message to the mobile phone the user has linked to the account,
In this manner, an account would be protected against unauthorized access by someone who stole the user's user name and password.
