i am using hp pavilion dv2214tu, able to hear from inbuilt speakers but
when i insert headphones, i can still hear from the inbuilt speakers
but not the headphones. PLs help.
The headphone jack contains a small contact that disables the built in speakers and redirect the audio signal to the headphones. If the jack doesn't do this, probably that contact is dirty or the jack itself has a problem to one of the contacts inside it. You could try some electrical contact cleaner (it'a a spray you can buy from any electronic store) but I'm not sure if it will help or solve the problem permanently.
The best solution would be to replace that jack with a new one. It's not an expensive or tricky repair and any service center should be able to do it without many problems.

Yes hello, my name is Ben and im having a problem with my laptop, its a v2000 a friend gave me, i am wanting to fix it up and give it to my parents for Christmas, I can also understand everything u say to me about a computer, so u can reply computer talk. Okay, now i have been having a problem i JUST CANT FIX. its starting to make me mad, it is doing the following: When i turn it on the compaq screen starts up, but i cant press: Esc for boot menu F10 for setup or F12 for LAN boot. Sometimes if i turn it on and press Any one of those keys many times it will go to a screen that says press F1 to continue or F10 for setup, but still none of these keys do anything. It beeps twice on this screen, its a short non-loud beep. Now last, i have opened the laptop as i thought maybe the Cmos needed to be reset, so i took the battery out and back in. while i was in there i decided to look at the whole computer, so i looked at the processor, i had a little bit of what it looked like burned stuff on it. there was some burn marks on the metal looking thing and around it on the green part on the chip. what does this sound like to you. i think it is either 1 of 2 things: the processor is dead or the BIOS was corrupted and i cant flash it because i cant access the boot menu!!!!
