Clear U2 trouble with SIM16.

Canon diagnostic says the internal unit has malfunctioned, It means the main board is not talking to the printer board. Could be a paper jam, a bad printhead, or bad circuit board. Try removing the printhead and powering on, if that error is gone and it says to install printhead, then you just need a new printhead.
Print heads cans wear out. Put in cartridge sound more like a low ink level. Check ink levels and reseat the ink cartridges. Still no? I'd suggest having the print nozzles checked by a repair center or Canon.
The error code means "Ink Detection Waste Ink Tank Full". This means that the ink pad needs to be replaced. Also, dont forget to set the eepron counter to 0. Please follow the steps:
ADITIONAL FUNCTIONS SCAN COPY SCAN scroll to TESTMODE scroll to PRINTER TEST scroll to EEPROM CLEAR and the press the numeric key 3 or and keys. Select INK COUNT, and then press the numeric key 0 or and keys to reset the waste ink capacity. Press the [Stop/Reset] key and then the [ON/OFF] key to end the test mode.
I tries to replicate this error in my printer and I was able to aolve it with the above mentioned steps.
It seems the home position sensor is out of whack or the mylar band behind the print cartridge carriage is missing or broken.
To find the mylar piece look for a clear 6mm x 460mm clear piece of plastic with black markings (like a gradient) on both sides. If you find it you can try and place it back by looking for an extended eyelet on both sides of the stell print carrier.
Most people in haste to change ink have the hand slip and it becomes dislodged.
