Stopped burning I have a Compaq computer with 512 mb or ram. I have been useing this DVD burner for awhile now and it was working perfectly. It suddenly stopped burning the files that I wanted to put on the disk. I have tried several different types of DVD+r and DVD-r disk. I have tried several different types of software, tried Nero, DVDFlick, and also Media Center. Is there a problem with the DVD burner itself or am I doing something wrong?

My LG GSA 55HL Multi Burner with litescribe Will Not Burn With DMA Enabled on My OLder Computer 8 yrs old.Its A 1ghz intel with 512 mb Ram,Not enough RAM? Will burn dvd without DMA but takes a really long...

Go here and download DVD shrink.
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

Install it then do the following.

Insert DVD Cancel when it attempts to play
Open DVD Shrink
Select Open Disc (top Left) then OK

It will take about 1 1/2 mins to read the disc. Ignore what it says on the right ot the screen.

On the left under full disc back up click on the disc icon not the folders underneath then click on back up on the top.

You can if you wish just click on the main movie folder then back up if you don't want trailers or subtitles included.

DMA encryption is there for a reasonn and that is because the companies do not think you are allowed to make back ups of films you have bought.

DVD Shrink also has other uses EG if you have a DVD9 and want your back up on a DVD5 it will happily do it for you.(movie folder only reccomended here though) and better still its FREE!

DVDS burn failure

Mmmm... to hard to know what is happening, as many things in computers that problem could come from many sides.

First advice: USE NERO (JUST NERO) its the best for windows.
You can get NERO for free on the net, at least just a trial version.

Second advive: make sure you have at least 512 MB of RAM
enough free HD space at lease 5 giga for a DVD.

Do this first to ensure your problem is not the software youre using... I will assume at this point that your operative system is running perfectly, because if not, your problem is just there.
And I will also assume your CD/DVD unit is 100% OK... otherwise nothing will help.

Install NERO and try burning at a low speed (8 maximum)

if you have problems... I would need much more information on this matter and you might need to spend money in a new recorder.

System requirements for using LG GSA 4163B to burn DL discs

512 should be enough. As long as you have enough hard drive space windows should take care of creating virtual memory with the swap file.

I see no reason at all why 512 wouldn't be enough ram to burn a disc. If you are running out of memory take a look at what programs are running on the system and try to close some of the larger ones.

My Sony burns cds but doesn't burn dvds!!!

It may be a dual laser type burner and the dvd laser has faulted, you can try using a cd/dvd cleaner to clean the laser. Otherwise try:- Go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager and look down the list for your cd/dvd drives and click the '+' sign then highlight your dvd drive and right click to delete. Restart the pc and windows will find the drive again automatically and install the drivers
