Turn the power on the radio Cassette hit eject turn the power off turn the power back on. The cassette may come out unraveled but that's only way I can think of you will get it out.
Hi, Make sure that the cartridge is installed and that there is no slack with the ribbon. You can turn the tape by advancing the tape in the center of the cartridge wheel, IN THE DIRECTION of the arrow on the cartridge. You can advance the tape by pressing 2 buttons: CODE and Space
Also if you installed a new cartridge, make sure that you removed the safety cover.
Hope this helps.
The owners manual can be found at this address: http://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/manual/PT1750.pdf
I found 2 helpful manuals from brother that you may want to checkout. they explain exactly how to install the cartridge: http://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/manual/PT1000.pdf http://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/manual/PT85.pdf
Looks like this is the white plastic shield gasket:
You need to remove the front panel, loosen the top panel to be able to remove the plastic shield (it's just clipped on).
Once you have the shield removed, put gasket back in place so you are back in washing business.
Good Luck!
Download the manual for instructions and images of how to change the tape cassette (this should be a simple operation, unless something is wrong with your machine): http://pub.brother.com/pub/com/ptouch-pdf/UM_PT65.pdf
I'm on my second machine since December. Neither P-Touch would feed the white tape, the other layers bunch up inside the machine. Called Brother, and they were no help (indeed not much interested in my problem), except to suggest I clean the rollers with alcohol/q-tip. This action did result in the tape feeding, but not properly as I now get an unusable label strip with all three layers, and printing on the clear layer backed by black layer. POS if you ask me; it is going back to the store.
Sounds like the take-up reel isn't turning. Often the linkage for the take-up reel is used for both Play and Fast Forward. So test the Fast Forward.
I would look for a broken belt or slipping drive wheel. The fact that the tapes are unraveling tells me that the capstan is pulling the tape out of the feed reel.
