How do I access my btinternet email account

When typing in my email address and password, my phone verifys but says the username or password for mail.btinternet.om is incorrect.

SOURCE: Sending emails using GMail on the iPhone

To fix the responding issue, you need to tell your iphone which account is the default account for sending your emails.

touch settings, then mail, and at the bottom of that page in the sending section it asks which account is your default.

The iphone will always use this accoutn to send emails if you start an email outside of the mail program, like by clicking an email in your contacts list or on a webpage.

Now if your in another POP account in the mail program and you click compose message it should be sent from that account.

I am sorry to have to say this but only you know your user name and password.

If your mail service can be accessed with a computer using a web page you can confirm whether you have the correct user name and password by logging in.

You could also call you mail service provider and they can assist you. They can do things like reset your password if necessary.

If the Apple email server was having a problem for a short period of time, this could have been the result, an error message about failing to be able to log you in. In which case waiting a short while and trying again, or trying from a different device (like a computer) to check would have been a good course of action ...
Usually if you have an email "address," meaning a username with an email provider, and you delete the entire account, they will not allow you to choose the same username again, it's gone forever.
If your email account is permanently deleted, can you set up a new one with a different, unique username?

I cannot get or send emails. my server is not working

This indicates either an incorrect password or server settings. Make sure your account is setup as follows:

IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com
Port: 993 (this should be automatically populated if you tick the SSL Encryption)
SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)
Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part
Password: your btinternet password
Root folder/path:
Folder separator: . (full stop)
Please do NOT enable "secure password authentication" (SPA). It's not needed when you use SSL encryption and won't work.
If your IMAP client supports it, we recommend you also set up the following folders:

Facebook provides tools that you can use to recover a compromised account, based on whether or not your personal email account has been hacked as well.If You Can Access Your Email
1. Open a Web browser and navigate to the Facebook account recovery page using the Resource link.
Click the link after Step 1 on the page.

2. Click the link after Step 1 on the new page to begin the process of resetting your Facebook password.

Click in the box under "Enter Your Facebook Username," and type the name that you use when logging in to Facebook.
Alternatively, use the first box to enter the email address or phone number associated with your account.
Click the "Search" button.
A security check window appears.
Type the words that appear on the screen, and then click "Submit."


Click the "Reset Password" button.
Facebook sends an email to the address linked to your account.
The email address is displayed on the screen.

Fortunately, you can retrieve your username if you can supply some information that verifies your identity.
However, if you forget your password, you must select a new one.
You will need access to the alternate email address you supplied when you created your current email account.

Go to your email program and click the link under the sign-in fields to recover a lost email ID or password.
The title of this link may vary, depending on your email program.
For instance, look for "Can't access your account?" in Gmail and look for "I can't access my account" in Yahoo! Mail.
Clicking this link will take you to a page with several options.
Select the appropriate option to retrieve your email ID.
For instance, select "I forgot my username" in Gmail and "I forgot my Yahoo! ID" in Yahoo! Mail.


Enter the alternate email address you provided when you signed up for the email account.
You may have to enter other information as well, such as your date of birth, country of residence and zip code.


Go to the email account for the address you provided.
Open the account recovery message from your email service provider to view your username.

Settings - E-mail

You'll need to complete all steps for this to work. Make sure that if you have to enter O2 in the settings you use the letter O and not a zero.

The following settings are if you use O2 Email as your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

If you require different settings eg Yahoo, Gmail etc please click here

1. Tap the Application tab on the bottom of the screen
2. Tap Email
3. Tap Next on the Welcome to Email setup screen
4. Tap on the Email address text box and enter your Email address then tap Done
5. Tap on the Password text box and enter your Password for your Email account then tap Done
6. Tap Next
7. Your phone will now try and download your setting to your phone and set up your account, if this can not be done you will see the message, Setup could not finish. Unable to open connection to server. Tap Edit details to continue.
8. Tap Manual setup
9. Tap the Username text box and enter your full Email address then tap Done
10. Tap POP3 account
11. Highlight POP3 server and tap the text box and enter mail.o2.co.uk
12. Check that Port is default set at 110
13. Highlight Next and tap
14. The phone will now check your settings
15. Tap the SMTP server text box and enter smtp.o2.co.uk
16. Highlight Next and tap
17. The phone will now check your settings
18. Tap Next on the Account options screen
19. You now have the options to add a name for your new account plus add your name to outgoing messages
20. Tap Done
