The brush or brushes (depending on your model) can be removed if needed. Routine cleaning should just require removing hair and debris from the brushes and wiping the area around the brushes.
There should actually be very little hair or debris around the brush roll if the carpets are thoroughly vacuumed by a properly working vacuum cleaner before being cleaned.
to smooth hair while still creating volume blow out hair with a round ceramic brush. Roll hair around the brush, hit with hot air setting for few seconds, and then let cool before removing the brush. Continue working in sections until hair is dry, bouncy and smooth
I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but there are two possibilities - the drive belt to the brushes broke, or the brush can't turn due to excessive hair wrapped around the shaft. If the belt is OK but the brush does not turn, you should smell burning rubber.
If the belt is broken, you have to remove the bottom plate to expose the brush, remove the brush and the broken belt, and replace the belt, and put it back to gether. While you have the brush out, now would be a good time to clean it - remove the hair, etc from the brush and around the shaft. Good Luck!
A
slicker brush is a tool designed to help remove matts in your dogs hair, while
at the same time pulling out dead hair, removing layers of dead skin cells and
promoting healthy circulation. To use a
slicker brush, run the brush over the coat of your dogs hair in the same direction
as the grain of the hair. Avoid using
the slicker brush around your dogs face and ears.
You
will need both a slicker brush and a bristle brush. Begin by teasing out the mats with your
slicker brush and then use the bristle brush to go over the coat. If the matting is too hard to remove using
the brush, you may need to trim some of the hair.
Try Larryclare1's solution for a Kenmore and see if it helps. Worked wonders for both my turbo brush attachments. http://www.fixya.com/support/t1095798-kenmore_model_116_powermate_jr_stopped
It could well be the dog hair. You'll need to remove the roller brush and completely clean it off with the hair which sounds like it has wrapped itself around the brush and the brush end washers. Check that the entire roller brush is completely clear and if any dirt is found at the sides, remove it.
