I have a 95 trans am with an automatic 4l60e transmission that will not go in to any gear, what could be the problem?

N TO D only or with.
P to R or N to R harsh, or with
or all upshifts in drive to all 4gears harsh????????
when it changing gear, means automatic shifts by IT?

silverado, 1500 or 2500? we sure can't guess. , NO VIN told. or RPO list showing M-xx code for trans there.
which engine it is. trans match engine for max tongue.
4.3, 4.8 , 5.4L

automatic trans, (mine was stick) 4L60E -RPO M30
4L60E<<< is my wild wide guess and is 5.4L

1. check levels yet per the operators guide,not ever done like and engine or axle.
2. scan it is next it will have DTC errors and with the we see why.
3. bad U-joint or TC FLEX PLATE bolts missing, OR LOSE.
4. jammed accumulator, (this is shock absorber for just that act)
5. bad pump regulator (too high PSI)
6. wrong ATF FLUID OR LAME ADDTIVES LUCAS ADDED,
7. BAD STICKING CLUTCH PACKS.
8. EPC bad or its filter clogged. electronic pressure control
9. LOTS MORE AS LOTS THERE, even bad pump.or bad TC

wild guess me all that, not told all modes the trans is harsh..

All 4L60E /4L60/700R4 have the same gear ratio which can not be modified. ..swap the 94 internal harness into 95 and 96 transmission

Transmission needs rebuilt/replaced. Probably a 4l60E trans. if it's a 2WD---4WD could be a 4l80E. Internal damage or just worn out.

Time for an overhaul. There is nothing you can do except check the fluid level on the dipstick.

overdrive is the fourth gear.D1,D2,D3,D4 now drive truck at 80 kmh
cruise at steady speed no fuel pedal movement, downshift from D4 to D3 you should feel RPM raise .. after push brake pedal a little you should see RPM raise 300 to 400 rpm.
shift pattern is 1st gear ,second gear,3rd gear and lock up(torque converter clutch). 4th gear with lock up

This is a transmission pressure adjustment to have it shift at adifferent speed.

One of the bands or clutch packs are burned out in the transmission. Or that piston could have a blown or ripped seal.
That vehicle has a 4L60E transmission I am fairly sure. If it is a 1 ton it may have the 4L80E. If you really want to know I could probably check my books and tell you exactly which clutch pack.
I should think you would have other symptoms though as well like first gear going straight to second or some such thing.
This is all assuming it is an automatic. If it is a manual stick transmission then you still have a transmission problem. Would need more information to track down what exactly. Things like noises and circumstances. for instance the shifter goes into the reverse spot but
nothing more then a funny noise. OR the shifter wont even go into the reverse position.

No the 4l60e is a electronic transmission you need to find a 700r4 transmission which are very common. Check with your local junk yards and are pretty easy to install. About a full days worth of work for a person with general know how of vehicles.

do u have any trouble codes for the trans? u need to find out to see if a shift solenoid (possible 2-3) has failed.
