Just got my second dsp-a1. Heres the deal, if you have already checked all connections and have the correct source selected, but yet still dont get any sound from the MAINS left and right, heres what to do. Make sure you have proper bypass connectors in the rear where it says main left right. My new receiver came with the 2 bypass pointing up/down. Change them to the horizontal position. Make sense? They should look like two minus signs on the back of the receiver not two II , but rather = . Hope this helps, cause it saved me from what i thought was a blown main channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like an internal connection problem. open access panel and check the solder connection is not broken or loose. Be sure the metal mesh jacket is not touching the lead wire as that would cause a scratchy noise and feedback, or maybe near the internal cable causing feedback

Lost sound in left channel?

I presume you are playing a stereo cd. Plug some other device, like headphones in to see if the computer is putting out stereo. Use the same plug as the speaker system is plugged into.
I presume you have swapped the speakers to test them.
If the speakers work, and the headphones work, it's the amp.

Unable to connect surround sound with a stero player

There is a obvious difficulty here. If you have a stereo receiver then it can't produce surround sound. You must have a surround sound receiver to present true surround sound. If you already do have that then on the back of your Phillips set there are audio outputs. The left and right audio out will be decoded in your surround sound receiver and they will automatically play from your speakers. You should have seven speakers, center channel, left and right front speakers, left and right rear speakers and left and right mid or side speakers. A sub-woofer would be nice too. Best bet is to speak with the store you purchased the set from. They will have that information.
