Question about Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH / IXUS 65 Digital Camera

Canon Powershot SD630 video only records a couple seconds

When I go to record a video it records for about 25 seconds then it gives me a red exclamation point. After about 35 seconds it says it's busy and stops recording. It stays busy for what seems like a while. I can't get good video if it stops after half a minute! Help!
Any ideas?

The card you are using is having a hard time keeping up with the video. Have you ever formatted this card before? Suggest trying a format of the card to see if that corrects the problem (NOTE this will also erase the card, so only do this AFTER you've downloaded all the photos/videos to your computer.

Press menu, select the tools menu, then select the item stating the card's capacity and select it. Then follow the on-screen prompts for a low-level format.

If formatting does not correct this, you might want to consider a better/faster card than what you're currently using. Be careful in purchasing though in that I doubt the newer SDHC cards will be compatible with your camera.

You either need a larger SD card or to reduce the quality of the video you're shooting.

I think your card is damaged. Try connecting to your computer and check available space. Take a backup and format it from your PC, check if it is formatting completely.

If the card is not Class 10 you will also have problem recording movie from a camera. You need a high speed card to record video.

Ixus 65 movie recording but no sounds

Try this. While in the shooting mode, in the menu under the tools tab there is a mute control that turns all sounds off. Also under volume there is a control for playback volume.

Digital Camera CANON PowerShot A410-No VOICE Record

I'm sorry to tell you, but the PowerShot A410 model does not have a microphone to record voice. Of all the A400 models, only the A410 and A420 were made this way. For some unknown reason, Canon decided to not include micorphones wiith these two cameras, thus they can only record video, but no voice.

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for future recording.

Lizzie,

This may sound like a dumb question, but are you sure that you had the camera set to the video recording mode? Several of the Canon digital PowerShots will show the movie icon on the LCD screen even when the camera is in image record mode. Why, I don't know. Ensure that you set the camera into movie mode by pressing your Func/Set button to go into the Function Menu and then selecting the movie mode that you want to shoot in. Press the Func/Set button again to get out of the Function Menu and you will not only see a movie camera icon on the LCD screen, but also a set of numbers in the bottom left hand corner representing the recording resolution (e.g. 640 pixels) and the frames per second (e.g. 30).

And just in case you did have the camera set in movie mode, make sure that you don't do what many people have inadvertantly done and mistake the video clip for a .jpg image in the playback screen. Videos will of course have the movie camera icon in the upper corner of the image and are viewed by pressing the Set button twice to begin the playback.

If both of these steps were performed properly then your camera may have a hardware issue. As a last resort, try performing a reset from within the menu just to be on the safe side and see if it makes a difference. If not you may need service. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

If you have Windows XP or better, you also have "Windows Movie Maker". Use this program to compress your videos to a usable size. Keep in mind, with compression comes some loss in quality, depending on how much you want to shrink it.
