Check to see if there are any safety switches on the seat that may have gone bad and aren't allowing for it to start. Also check the clutch. Some mowers require it to be depressed in order for the engine to turn over.

Where is the solenoid located on a briggs and stratton engine model number 282H07/0334

Mary Jo, solenoid is not normally on engine, follow the positive battery cable from battery to where it bolts to a small double terminal device(this is the solenoid) the other bolt has cable attached that goes to battery.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Riding lawn mower stopped working, now it just makes a clicking noise when you turn the key, the grass was pretty high when this happened...did the engine blow?

the battery is just probably low,, make sure it has a full 12 volts or better, check to make sure the battery posts are clean and making good contact ,,, riding mowers charge slowly, and if the current can't charge the battery , then the mower is just draining it as you run it, hitting a large clump of grass could stall out the motor, But I doubt it Blew it up,, check those items ,, Good Luck

I have a 16hp Craftsman riding mower which I was using when it suddenly stopped. Now when I turn the key, nothing happens...it doesn't even click....Please Help ! Ray

Check the battery with a voltmeter to see if you have 12.5 volts....this voltage is critical for the solenoid and starter to operate properly...next...make sure you battery connections and the connections to the solenoid/starter are good and tight. Poor connections are a very common problem on mowing equipment...one thing you can try is to "jump " a 12 volt signal to the trigger lead on the solenoid...if this triggers the starter, then the keyswitch may be defective...also...before you go changing parts...make sure the fuse(s) is good...there should be a fuse from the keyswitch to the solenoid

Does it crank over at all? I would look at all the fuses, and check the wiring going from the battery to the starter. Also check the key switch for corrosion.

I have got a Craftsman model 917.270821 19.5 electric start 42" mower and cant get it to start I have replaced the starter and had the battery checked and all is good there, but dont seem to be gettin

check the wires from the back of the ignition and also the small wire that connects to the starter, if you get a 12v test light check each wire individually by holding the test light on the wire and have somebody turn the key, the test light should come on if the power is going through the wire.
If there is no power the ignition may need replacing
