What needs to happen is you need to take all of the screws off of the back. Then there should be 4 screws on the bottom of the base but you need to take off the covers to them first before you can remove the screws.

Once all of these screws are taken out, you'll need to sepearate the back cover from the front, there will be latches that you need to move with a flathead screwdriver and you'll need to do this a few at a time so you can start removing the back cover easier.

You'll eventually remove the back cover to expose the insides of the computer. Now go ahead and plug in the Sony AC Adapter and turn on the computer and from that point once the fan gets loud you'll know which one you'll have to replace.

Fan running continuously

the fan in your computer is constantly running to cool down the cpu and it is normal for it to increase it's speed, your fan should run quietly even it increases the rpm. But if you hear a loud noise in the fan, i think there's something wrong with it. I suggest for you to check the fan if it's coming in contact with anything. If the fan is visible while your laptop is operating, you can observe it to know what is really happening. I don't know what type of fan hp uses on their laptops, maybe something is loose already on the fan so better check it or bring it to a service center.

Yes, the fan can be definitely be replaced. You can actually get a replacement fan for your computer at The Laptop Fan Shop online for about $22. The process of changing a fan is quite simple, so you should be able to do it yourself to save on labor. Although, if your computer is still under warranty you should contact dell directly at 1-877-694-3591 to see if they can replace it for you for free.

I don't think you can install 8gb of ram into that desktop. If the processor fan is too loud check it for dust or any other obstructions. If there aren't any try replacing the fan - it could be a bearing in the fan.

hi

fan noise means one think, DUST !

or if its past its life cysle (ie: 3-5 years), its time to replace the fan.

you can remove the dust from the fan. If that noise persists, yopu must replace the fan , otherwise your friend will eventually dmage the CPU or mainboard or both.

hope this serves you well

Fan is loud

well if its not attached to the motherboard in any place, for example the heat sync, or the cpu, then you can remove the fan, any other place, you shouldnt replace it because the mother board sets the fan at a certain rpm, and which would sound loud with any fan. I know this because i replaced the fan on my sony computer, and on a generic motherboard, and it was quiet, but when i put it on my sony computer, it was loud, so if you want to replace your fan, i suggest liquid cooling, it is completely quiet, and keeps your cpu much cooler than a fan. Best of luck.

HP Dv8233cl fan grinding

You only need to replace the fan, not the heatsink assembly.
Your computer repairer can do it or you can do it yourself once you identify the size of the fan and buy a matching one. You may have to solder a new connector on the lead.

Noisy fan

Clean the computer from dust, use canned air to blow the dust out, as the airflow increases the fan wont have to run so loud.

if the fan is really loud, it needs to be replaced.

Loud noise

Typical problem in most computers, the fan is experiencing a "burn out." This means there is either something caught in the fan causing it to create noise, or the motor is going bad. there are two fixes for this problem.
1) open you computer's case according to its manual and remove the system cooling fan and give it a thorough cleaning.
2) you may need to replace the cooling fan with its recommended replacement model.

Hope this helps!
