I would say that the lock has failed. Either the lock itself or maybe the pin or latch that fits into it when you close the door may have cracked / broken. If the machine thinks the door / lid is still open, it wont let you start it.

it seems that the lock is stuck or broke. Try to see if u can move it by hand. if not u may need to remove the switch while doing this make sure the wires were connected and not loose. your ? does not say the type of washer u have. mine is a whirlpool deut and I took off kick panel on front bottom of washer and was able to reach the switch when I replaced mine. u can get a new switch at applianceparts.com

The lid switch sounds logical. That would certainly halt the cycle. I'm not sure what actuates the lid switch on your particular model but check it as well. Good luck.

What is the model number listed on the unit?The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)

i have the problem when i turn power on 2 green wash cycle lights plus the red lid lock stay on with constant beeping every second then when i push the start button the 2 green lights go out and the red lid lock light stays on but no beeps please help

Probably something wrong with the lid lock system. You should here a good sized click and the lid lock light should come on. If not, its probably a bad lock system. Good Luck!!!! Jim
