Canon 350D will not power on after being caught in the rain...

Ok, so my 350D was caught in a pretty severe rainstorm about a month ago. I realized it pretty quickly, got to a dry location, dis-assembled most of the camera and let it all dry. After a few hours, I put it back together, and it worked perfectly fine, no noticeable problems whatsoever. I have a 40D as a primary body, so my 350D doesn't get a lot of use. The other day I grabbed it to take with me to a shoot and when I was getting my gear together I decided to test it. It now won't turn on at all. I tried fully charging the battery and removing and replacing the small button-cell battery as well. I have tried it with the card in and out, and just about every other thing I could think of. I am at my wits end. Nothing is working. Do you guys have any thoughts?

As for the battery suggestion, I have four. I fully charged each one and tried them all separately to no avail. Thanks for responding though!

I have a canon 350d that will not power on at all after I unplugged it from a pc (the usb cable) without using the "safely remove hardware" feature on xp.

I've tried all 3 of my batteries with no luck. It was working perfectly before, never had any problems with it.

Any suggestions? Anything I haven't tried? Is there a reset button, or any other source of power I'm missing?

    Thanks in advance,

I wasn't having any problems with my camera. I recently went on vacation and got my camera out for the first time in a couple weeks. It wouldn't turn on. I took it to a Ritz camera place and both of my batteries worked in a different camera. I don't recall getting any water in it. Any thoughts?

My memory card just got stuck in my Canon Rebel XTi. The button to the side of the card is stuck down. Is there a back up release?

Repairing camera is a specialty. so unless you have this skill you'll have to let someone else fix it. i sent my camera to be fixed to: www.camerarepair.com they were reasonably priced and have a 6 month warranty. they're pretty quick also.

I cannot get Remote Shooting option when I loaded the software for my Canon 350D (Rebel XT) camera on a computer with Vista. The software loads the Remote Shooting option for computers with Windows XP....

According to Canon, camera communication is supported by Vista, like you have experienced. See:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=215&modelid=11209

The software that ships with the XT does not support Vista. To enable this support, you need to download an update from Canon. Click the following link and select Vista as your O/S from the drop-down box at the top:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=11209

Note that there are also several updates there that you may want to download and install as well.

I loved my XT until my wife dropped it on vacation a couple months ago.

Hope this helps.

The image has become a bunch of parallel lines of various colors. I was caught in a hard rainstorm and the G-6 was exposed to that moisture for several minutes.

boiler59,
Sounds like the moisture got into the camera. Water (environmental) damage is not covered by your warranty. I would suggest that you remove the battery right away to prevent further damage. Leave the battery door open to allow air to circulate and dry out the camera. Purchase a can of compressed air and blow it into the seams in the camera in order to dry out the inside. You can get the compressed air at Walmart. Then allow the camera to sit overnight in a warm dry environment. With a fully charged battery try using the camera again. If you are still experiencing the parallel line problem it would have to be looked at at an authorized Canon repair shop.

ERR99 and not taking any photos.

So you're saying the camera works fine with another lens, just not with the 18-55. Try cleaning the contacts where the lens and the camera body meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Canon Power Shot SX10 IS - I've had camera for about 4 months. As of a week ago, I can only use small view finder for taking photos; the 2.5 screen for viewing does not work now. Able to view photos...

You can reset the camera to factory settings. If after that, you still have the same problem, make valid the Canon warranty since it's 4 months old.

My Canon Rebel has stopped importing pix properly, despite being quite new. It displays pictures ok, we get to Windows explorer to view them as thumbnails as normal(with 0 kb size!), which Windows cannot...

Try going to the Canon website for your country. It may be a driver problem in that the driver to download your photos is either out of date or incorrect for your camera. I had a very similar problem with my EOS 350D in that it would not import pictures from the camera to windows.
Occasionally my camera would take a photo of 0kbs but since my updated driver 6 months ago it has not done it once. Failing that get a 40D, the difference is amazing!!
Hope this helps.
