Problem for Dell Latitude D600 PC Notebook
1721 Inspiron shows flashing amber, three times, then blue.
Battery light flashing three times amber, then blue. Battery is charging, computer works on battery or AC. Why is the light flashing?

- Battery health: This battery is functioning normally. The lights on the battery all show green when the button is pressed, as well. Any other suggestions as to what might be wrong? Thanks!Jul 04, 2009
- Wouldn't the Battery Health in the Set Up at Reboot reflect that a cell(s) were going bad? It states that the battery is functioning normally. The lights on the battery itself light green when the test button is pressed. I'm going to try the battery from my other 1721, and see if that battery does the same thing. Thanks!!!Best Solution

The cells in the battery are starting to go bad which is why the light is blinking the way it is.
Once you get a new battery put in there the light will stay blue instead of flashing amber.

Boot to the system setup, (F2 at boot) and scroll down to the battery health section, it should give you information on the status of the battery.
The battery is likely reaching the end of its useful life and that is one indication. It will still work, but the length of time it will run on battery will decrease as the battery ages.
