Will no longer spin

Washer will no longer spin. Any ideas as to what the problem might be. It is a Estate, HD, 8 cycle, 4 speed.

Yes sir, I believe it still agitates, but when the dial goes to the spin cycle, it does not spin. The motor does run, even sounds like it is spinning. I opened the lid, which shuts it off, then push in the lid switch to bypass it so I can look - no spin action taking place! The washer is about 6 years old, but it is just used for my wife & I, so hasn't had a lot of excessive use as the kids are long gone! I thank you for your thoughts.

Hi, I have to ask a couple of questions to pin point this for you. Does the washer agitate?
When the washer is in the spin cycle, Does the motor run at all? The most common problem with the spin cycle is either the lid switch or the coupler. This is why I am asking the questions.
Please let me know so I can assist you.

Ok, We are narrowing it down. If the washer washes/agitates but doesn't spin, the basket drive assembly must be bad. While holding the lid switch down, try turning the tub with your hand and see if it will start to turn.

Please make syre it agitates too. If neither agitation or spin work, it could be a coupler. We hope it is the coupler.

    Please let me know.

Machine will rinse but wont always spin

Possible that the program controller is not proceeding sequentially to the program cycle and so there is a missed spin at some point.
Check the connections from the program controller, before it can be suspected.

GE WHDRR418 top load washer won't spin at high speed; the washer does the complete cycle, and agitates in both directions and does physically spin, but it will not go into the 'high speed' spin that...

we can eliminate the motor and the switch since that part is working. sound like your timer might be faulty, timer make everything work in persistence cycles, if its goes bad sometime it tend to jump/skip cycles.

Spin cycle not removing enough water from clothes

your manual states that it can be caused by cold rinses and or spin cycle not getting completed. please try to rinse in hot or warm and see if that does not solve your problem

Estate Dryer takes too long to dry load

Since you say the vent is clear, Make sure that the lint filter is cleared before each load. Make sure the door shuts close and is reasonably sealed. If the dryer draws air past the door, it is not fully drawing heat from the element or burner. Also make sure the washer is doing it's job in the spin cycle. It takes much longer to dry fabrics that are still soppy wet. You might try resetting the washer in the spin cycle to further evacuate the water from the clothes before placing in the dryer. See if that makes a difference. Maybe the washer spin is just being lazy. If it's a top loader it may have a loose belt causing the problem.
