Question about Hoover F5906-900 Upright Steam Vacuum

1 Answer

My carpet cleaner won't turn on

I was using my Hoover Steamvac model F5906-900 a few days ago and the collection compartment lid came loose (quit sucking), so I turned it off to reattach it and when I went to turn it back on....nothing. It won't start, make any noise, NOTHING. HELP! I spent way too much money on this thing for it to stop working in less than a year!

Re: My carpet cleaner won't turn on

If this machine is less that a year old, DON'T TOUCH IT! Take it in to a warrany depot and let them deal with it. Make sure that you take your proof of purchase with you and insist that they inform you of any Non-Warrany issues before repairing. Normally, these machines don't have any exlusions to the warranty, but the Hoover company is under new management and they may have different warranty coverage.

No suction of hoover carpet cleaner

Might be a bad blower/impellar - you must disassemble to check. But most likely the lid on the recovery tank is not installed correctly allowing air (suction) to leak. On most models you can remove the solution recovery tank, turn the unit on and feel for suction where the tank fits onto the base (look for the round, black rubber type seal in the front corner that mates to the round outlet on the underside of the recovery tank.) If there is good suction at this seal, then the problem is an air leak, almost always due to a loose or incorrectly fitted lid on the recovery tank. Also, if you have a detachable insert (for attachments) on the front of the recovery tank, check that the insert is installed properly. If this is reversed it will not provide suction.

How do i hook up my stair cleaner part to my hoover steamvac to clean my carpeted stairs? f5909=900 model

Hi There,

I'll be happy to walk you through step by step how you can attach the hose to your Hoover SteamVac.

Here are step by step instructions for you:

Step 1. To prevent possible leaking, remove
clean solution tank by pressing down on
tank handle (D) and pulling forward; set
tank aside (do not set tank on furniture2_bing.gif).
Remove hose from storage rack.

Step 2: Step on handle release pedal (E) and
lower carpet cleaner handle until it rests
on the floor.
Unlatch back part of recovery tank and
remove lid.

Step 3: Remove recovery tank front panel (F)
by sliding it straight up.

Step 4. Replace panel with converter (G).
Slide converter halfway down opening
until it is firmly in place.

Step 5. Before connecting tube (H) to
cleaner, make sure black tabs are
extended by pulling tan collar toward
Open door on hood labeled “Stair/
upholstery Cleaning Connection”. Press
round solution tube connector onto
round projection inside door. Press connector
collar down firmly to ensure
that it is fully connected.

Step 6. The tank replaces in a hinge-like
manner. Position front of lid under tabs
(I) on front of tank. Rotate lid down onto
Make sure lid is secure on all sides
before cleaning.
For full suction, it is important that
the recovery tank lid is properly
secured before cleaning.
Reverse procedure to remove hose
and solution tube.
Raise carpet cleaner2_bing.gif handle to upright

I hope that this was helpful to you in hooking up your Hoover SteamVac hose. If you found this helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful by clicking the 4 thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner of the repair, this is really appreciated.

Catch tank empty

Which you had posted your model number, If you have a foam filter on the inside of tyhe recovery tank lid, make sure there is at least a 1/4 in. gap between the lid and the top of the filter. Make sure that the lid is locked down in the back, try to push it up, if it is locked it won't move. If yours has a place for a duct in front of the recovery tank, make sure it is there and pushed all of the way down.

Hoover Steamvac F5892-900 leaving lines on carpet, does not seem to spray

Is the cleaner sucking up the water like it should? If not , check that the filter on the inside of the lid has a 1/4 in. gap between the filter and the top of the lid. Either that or the water isn't completely being shut off when you release the trigger, in whcih case you would probably have to take it in for service.

The automatic shut off

Check the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank. It needs to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top of the lid to the top of the filter.
