Macbook Pro mouse working temperamentally

My Macbook Pro seems to only intermittently recognise the optical mouse that is connected to it. Moving the mouse will, at times, move the mouse pointer, but most of the time it does not. If I remove the mouse connector from its USB slot, then reconnect it, it sometimes starts working for a while. The same problem seems to occur with both USB sockets.

Hello, it seems that the problem comes from your mouse: can you test your mouse on another computer and check if it does the same? If yes, you'll have to change the mouse

I want to connect my Macbook Pro (Mac OS 10.5) with my Onkyo Receiver via Toslink optical cable. How could I do?

Hi there,

There is an optical cable that you can buy. It needs to have a MINIPLUG on the one end and a standard Toslink on the other. This will give you the digital audio out of the MacBook Pro.

A company called Proel make the cable you need in varying lenghts.

Hope this helps

If you have "good batteries" installed in the mouse and keyboard and you still have the problem- the best way is to remove the devices via the System Preference panel in your MacBook and then re-install them again. It is important that you remove them first as the system may revert to the previous connection. Good luck!

The GE mouse came with a Receiver that goes into a USB port after the CD software program is installed. During installation the program will ask you to plug in the receiver into a USB port. This is when to do so. Then it should work properly.
