All drivers for Windows 8 are available on the Microsoft website. Since Windows 7 all drivers need certification, from Microsoft and then you can download them there. All other drivers offered via other sites, could still work fine on older operating systems, but not on Windows 7 or 8.x. So older hardware can't be installed, unless you get certified drivers form Microsoft.
Try and find out what the manufacturer and model of the camera is and search the manufacturer's site or the internet for Windows 8 drivers. There is not much else you can do. The notebook was designed for Windows 7 and there are not very many Windows 8 hardware device drivers available.
Windows 8 has updated drivers as much as you would get from Asus built into win 8.
Go to devise MGR, if windows 8 did not load drivers, you will see a flag.
See what hardware did not load a driver and then use the win 7 driver.
You don't do anything to make a win 7 driver work, if the driver is newer, and signed it will install, if it's older then the driver windows installed, it won't install. If you see a flag and windows did not install a driver, then try the win 7 driver, or go to the MFG of the hardware and see if there is a win 8 driver.
You can also run windows update, if win update see's a newer driver out it might pick it up and give you a install option.
Now, your chipset, and most hardware has windows 8 drivers out.
The drivers are the biggest problem, the biggest problem for you is the BIOS was not set for windows 8.
So you could find even with the best drivers, win 8 slower or has bugs more then win 7 will have.
Me, I would bench test all the hardware with win 7, then with win 8 and see which one is better.
If you run the Windows 8 update advisor (available on the microsoft website)on your computer you may find that the hardware is too old for windows 8, as it was built to run windows XP. The only way round this would be to update the graphics and add an audio card that is windows 8 ready. I hope this helps.
Windows 8 is brand new and they may not have the drivers that you need for your computer on line. You may need to call them and ask them to send you a cd/dvd with the drivers for your computer. It is not always wise to upgrade your computer immediately when a new program such as windows 8 comes out. My advice to you is to reinstall your last windows back on your computer for now and if you want to upgrade to windows 8 check to see if all the drivers are available ahead of time, before you upgrade.
