Question about Panasonic SC-AK78 CD Shelf System

How do you reset the 5 cd disk?

I keep getting an error message "Disc Takeout". When you push in the door for the cd, it keeps opening up. How do you reset the cd or system? or Clean the cd lens?

Thanks for your help.

Re: How do you reset the 5 cd disk?

Try this to rest unit. With cd selected press and hold 'Stop' for about 5 sec. keep holding then press and hold 'skip FF' for about 5 more sec. Take off power then unplug unit, then power back on. A line shows across the screen if it works.

My RCA Stereo system 5 disc cd drawer keeps opening. When I put a cd in it, the unit opens and keeps opening. It only stays closed when I turn off the unit and manually push it closed. What could be...

These units are actually nice units. There is a "loading belt" inside that controls the tray movement as well as the final "load" of the mechism into the play position. If the load does not complete, the unit will "eject" or open up. This is most often cured by replacing the loading belt. This is a common problem with any rubber component. As it ages, it gets a little slippery and thus will not have the grip to complete the loading sequence. The belt for this will run about $5.

Cd player stop playing... disc, data or it simply keeps searching for the tracks on the cd. How can this be fixed?

Try cleaning the lens with a CD lens disk cleaner, see if that rectifies the problem. Hifi systems are notorious for dust buildup being an enclosed system with an exposed cd drive deck.

CD malfunction

It sounds like you have put a disc in the tray that the system can not read, so it will just keep trying to read the disc over and over again. If you turn everything off by the plug and wait a few mins the whole system should stop. Put the plug back in and as soon as you turn your system on, try and press the disc open key before the lens gets a chance to start reading it again. If this does not work you may just have a disc jammed. So you will have to get someone to check it out for you if you do not understand what you will be doing, because you may do more harm than good to your system. Good luck.
