I have a canon mg5320 printer. I just filled 4 of yhe 5 cartridges but it still shows them almost empty, what can I do?

This is perfectly normal. Your printer has no idea you filled the cartridges. Keep using the printer - until it stops with 'ink out' error, then press the 'OK' button (on printer) momentarily. If that clears the error, you can resume printing.
If pressing OK doesn't do anything, press and HOLD the 'STOP' button for about 6 seconds - or until the error clears. This will disable the ink monitor - for the 'empty' cartridge.
You will have to repeat same process for each cartridge that turns 'empty'. Once all cartridges are disabled, you don't have to do anything - except keep refilling the ink.

Selphy cp780 continues to say ink cartridge empty even after installing new one. Tried 2 new ones to be certain it wasn't the cartridge, same thing...tells me ink cartridge empty install new.

try and reset your printer, unplug the power cord and wait 10 min, then plug back in,understand that Canon has installed a chip so you cannot use refilled cartridges,or cartridges you refill,if this doesn't work, then contact Canon, and you could get the same message I got take it in to be repaired, (to costly), so I end up buying a new one,,

Canon pixma mp272 printer. replaced black cartridge for the first time and now it wont print. getting error p08 on the printer and error 5200 on my laptop screen

Hello Hellen,
the error P08 is error for abnormal temperature in print head. Aa possible cause the ink cartridge is faulty and needs to be replaced. The same error description is for 5200 on your PC.

I recommend that you try to replace ink cartrigde under warranty in store where you bought it. If after that you still have error, take the printer to the service center because they logic board ( pcb ) is faulty.

Hope that helps!

I cant find the manual to canon pixma mp150.

Hi Irene
You solve the problem by replacing the empty ink cartridge.
Most printers (not just Canon) are designed to stop working if an ink cartridge is empty. This is to prevent the nozzles for the empty colour overheating and destroying themselves - the ink passing through acts as the coolant.

Canon MX310 - refilling cartridge

Most canons have a chip on the ink cartridge that tells the printer the ink is empty so unless you reset that chip (which you cannont do), that newly filled cartridge will always read empty. This is how some printer manufacturer's thwart people saving money by refilling their cartridges.

thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Refilling Ink in Canon Pixma MP830

Hello, I found this in a repair manual for the MP830. summery is to press and hold the stop/reset button for 5 or more seconds. I copied the info from the manual too. The remaining ink amount unknown. [1683] (Applicable ink tank icon) The remaining level of the following ink cannot be correctly detected. An ink tank which has once been empty is installed. Replace the applicable ink tank with a new one. Printing with a once-empty or refilled ink tank can damage the print head. If printing is continued without replacing the refilled ink tank, press the Stop/Reset button for 5 sec. or longer to record the use of a refilled ink tank. Note: After the above operation, the function to detect the remaining ink amount is disabled.
