when i start my sony vaio, it stays on the intel , phoenix and vaio logo page,, i then have to hit esc to start,, how can i solve this issue

Sounds like its hanging on something, with the laptop turned off, take out the hard drive and then put it back into its slot. Turn the laptop back on and see if goes past the logo screen.
