Labtec webcam i installed my webcam end of last month my son knocked the computer off by accident i went use the webcam on skype and it does`nt work ! but i have tried reinstalling it and it keeps saying that it is in another application i also uninstalled before this!but what i have noticed now is when i disconnect my modem it works great but this is no good for when i go on skype!have you any suggestions on what i can do next?i also tried the trouble shooting problems that comes up i have uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing has happend!

Go into Skype sounds setting and make sure the microphone is turned on then go to the computer sounds settings and make sure the microphone is turned on.

I can't get my webcam to work

1. Check that your webcam is switched on and plugged into your computer

2. A webcam can only be used by one application at a time, so make sure you don't have any other applications open that are accessing the webcam, e.g. other instant messaging applications or even some websites.

3. Problems with video are often caused by driver issues. A driver is the program you install with the webcam which makes the webcam work with your computer (some webcams use preinstalled drivers so you may not have had to install one). Make sure you have the latest driver installed. You can download and install the most recent drivers from the webcam manufacturer's website.

To test your webcam go to the Skype menu > Preferences > Video and tick the box Enable Skype Video. When Skype is able to use your webcam, you will see a video preview of yourself.

try to re-install the drivers of your web-cam.

uninstall skype from add or remove programs in your control panel. restart your computer and then try to reinstall it. if it's not working try searching an older version of skype. you cand find it at : www.oldversion.com

then,, it must be problem in your sons computer webcam,, if he can see himself in his computer,, then it can be problem with your system driver,, try reinstalling, other wise, you might not having appropriate needed drivers..

Have your son make sure that his Webcam is properly installed. Then go into your Skype settings and make sure that the said webcam is actually listed and selected for use. I would go further into detail but I only know how to use it with Myspace IM.

Sounds like your classic driver problem. Look in Device Manager and find your webcam. Right click on it an update driver/reinstall driver.

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
2. Then click on the Video Settings.
3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.

NOTE: You audio and video shoud work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
