Take or send the computer to a Toshiba Service Center to have the password reset or cleared. You may have to show proof of ownership, and the service is not free if computer is not under warranty.

I have a toshiba portege m100 with a bios password set that i need to bypass. toshiba want 80 quid just to look at it. some sorces say short clr1 jumper but i cant find it on my machine. please help.

Most DESKTOP computers have a jumper to "clear CMOS settings",
but most NOTEBOOK computers do NOT have that jumper.

The password exists to protect the owner of the computer, should a thief be trying to use the computer.

You probably can remove the disk-drive, and copy the files onto a new computer, if you don't want to pay TOSHIBA to bypass the password.

Try This: Resetting a Toshiba BIOS Password KeyDisk will reset the BIOS password on Toshiba laptops.
Older Toshiba laptopsmag-glass_10x10.gif can be convinced to boot without their power-on BIOS password by attaching a dongle to the parallel port which crosses a number of the pins. The pin out is:
Pins 1-5-10 2-11 3-17 4-12 6-16 7-13 8-14 9-15 Some Toshiba's can be convinced to bypass the startup BIOS password if you hold down the <LEFT-SHIFT> key while booting the system.
