If they are the replaceable kind, hold the strut assembly in a vise and remove the cap at the top of the tube by turning it with a large pair of channel locks. Remove the old cartridge, drop the new on in and replace the cap.
you do not have to take the whole printer to the shop to fill the ink cartrage if you have the manuel to the printer it should tell you how to remove the ink cartrage and replace it with a new one and also they may have a refill kit at one of your local computer stores or where they sell ink and they should be able to tell you how to get the ink cartrage out to replace it

if you have a spare cartridge try with it..if it works fine..then its a defective colour cartridge...try cleaning the cartridge with a damp paper towel..if that does not fix the issue..contact tech support...your cartridge would be replaced if in warranty
