Question about Microsoft Windows? Vista Home Premium Edition Upgrade Version for PC (1 Computers) (66I-00021)

3 Answers

Most of the documents on my old computer were created in Microsoft Works 2000. I need a new computer, and I am told that I cannot install MS Works 2000 in the Vista OS, but the expert cannot tell me if my documents will open in whatever version of MS Works was installed in the new computer at the factory. Can someone straighten this out for me?

You might consider switching to OpenOffice. It's a free open source MS Office alternative. It can open and save in Works 2000.

However, I would be confident in saying that a newer version of MS Works will open the 2000 files.

Please rate this helpful if it was!

Any newer version of MS Works should recognize documents created in older versions. Microsoft Office 2007 will as well.

Incompatability issues are common with documents created in Microsoft works 2000 with other operating systems. If you purchase/d a new computer and it comes with works it will have the newest version installed. Microsoft includes a new doc converter with their newest office and works progs. You should have no problem there. If you prefer to install the old works prog just run it in compatability mode and then transfer your docs. Hope that helps you. There are free online file converters also.

From Service Pack 3 with Microsoft office 2007, how do i change my operating system to MS office 2007?

Hi, there!
As I know, MS office is a software to use for office works such as typing document, calculate and basic office database. MS Office software is NOT an operating system. You can not change you operating system to MS Office 2007. I think you meant is: Install Service Pack 3 of Microsoft Office 2007 on your computer. To do so, you first need the Microsoft Office 2007 software on your computer or you need MS Office 2007 disk. The Service Pack 3 of MS Office 2007 is the update only not the actual software to use.

Hope this will help. Thanks for reading.

Took the computer to best buy to fix CD drive - came back with office not working - have reinstalled 3 times but it keeps saying it is not installed. what do we do?

Kat!
First, you may want to take it back to bestbuy .. no .. wait! .. never mind that.

You may be trying to use an "old" shortcut icon. Before you install again, click on [Start] [All Programs] [Microsoft Office] [Word] to determine if it works. If it does, then remove the old shortcut icons and create new ones by "dragging" each MS program from the selection menu to the desktop.
If that doesn't work then:
  1. UNINSTALL Microsoft Office through the Control Panel
  2. Reboot
  3. Remove all MS Office application shortcuts from your desktop, if any.
  4. INSTALL MS Office
  5. Reboot
Does it work now? Please comment for confirmation.
Thank you for using FixYa!

Microsoft office 2007

if u have the installation disc and ms office is not working then first remove the prog.
xp comp:- start/control pannel/add and remove prog double click/ select office 2007/remove/
restart the computer and then install again it will work//
vista computer/win 7 computer:- from control pannel double click on prog and feature and follow the step as above. select the prog and right click / uninstall. restart the comp after it is done and reinstall again//

before doing the above you can just try to make a new user account and log from the new user account after restarting the computer check if this works. if it works then the chance of previous account corruption is possible. remove the old account and save the created document on the desktop of the new account/ this is the promp you get when you delete the old account/ save files/delete files.
warning:-be very sure what you are doing and do it carefully or else it will be a big time problem for you as you will loose all your saved documents and picture/
if the computer is shipped with office 2007 and its creating the problem then do the backup of all ur documents on flash drive or ext hard drive and do the system recovery to bring the computer to original shipped condition. before doing that remember to also check by creating the new user account and logging from that account.

Cannot Create PDF from Word Document Using Adobe Professional 6.0

You can try to create PDF file directly from Microsoft Word. Adobe Acrobat Professional installs a virtual printer on your computer. Print the document from Microsoft Word, but make sure you select appropriate printer from the list. It should be called "Adobe Acrobat PDF Printer", or similar.

2007 won't scan to Word using HP Officejet Pro L7580

unfortunately the following is from MS Word 2007 Help:

The From Scanner or Camera option for scanning documents and pictures is not available in Microsoft Office Word 2007. Instead, you can use your scanner to scan the document, and then you can save the file to your computer.
After you scan the document, you can use Microsoft Office Document Imaging to create a version of the document that you can edit.
Important The first step is to install Microsoft Office Document Imaging, which is not installed by default.

Sorry.

If you have the product key, you can simply install the program on the new computer and uninstall the program on the old computer. To move files you created with using Microsoft Office you can copy the files (usually in My Documents) to a flash drive or a CD or other medium to copy on to your new computer.

Copying Microsoft Word macros to new computer system

Macros are stored in one of two places, Irene - and you decide where and when you create one. When you select Tools -> Macro -> Record New Macro you’re prompted to either create the macro in the global template (normal.dot) file, or the document you’re currently working on - by default, normal.dot is selected so that the macros are available in all documents you create.

Your normal.dot file is also where all custom styles, toolbars and autotext entries are stored, and it’s possible to transfer all of these - plus your macros - from one machine to another courtesy of Word’s Macro Organizer tool. The walkthrough below explains how to access it and back up your macros to a file you then transfer to your second PC before copying those macros into the normal.dot file on that computer so the macros are accessible from there too.

While this tool is the best way to transfer macros, or other individual elements of your normal.dot file (just select the appropriate tab to transfer styles, toolbars and autotext entries in exactly the same way), if you’re migrating to another PC you may wish to take all your settings with you. If you have Office 2000 or later you can use the Save My Settings Wizard to back up all your Office customisations - including the normal.dot template - and then use the same wizard on your new computer to restore them to the version of Office installed there.

Office XP and 2003 users will find the tool installed with Office -access it from the Microsoft Office Tools menu on the Start -> All Programs menu; Office 2000 users need to download it from here. It’s called the Microsoft Office 2000 Profile Wizard here.
