Your door must have a pressure switch, and it is hitting the floor before the motor stops.

with the door topped out, release the lock and push the door closer to the motor and relock.

If your door reverses when it hits the floor and the main light does not flash 10 times then the door is just closing too far. On the side of the motor unit you will find the 'down limit' control. Turn this a bit in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. It may take some adjusting to get it just right.

Door sensors have nothing to do with door opening. Only closing. It sounds like you have a bad gear in the motor unit. Remove the cover and it will be obvious if the gear is bad.

Door goes down then comes back up and light flashes

Clear any obstruction from between the safety sensors. Loose leaves, trash, and dirt on the lens of the sensor itself are all examples of things that can obstruct the sensor's signal.

  1. Check each sensor for a steady glowing indicator light. If both indicator lights are on, or if one indicator light is flickering, the sensors may be slightly misaligned. To check for misalignment; obstruct the beam of the sensors so that they cannot see each other. When the beam is blocked, the indicator light on one of the two sensors will temporarily go out. This is the receiving sensor. Remove the obstruction and loosen the wing nut on the back of the receiving sensor. Adjust the receiving sensor until the green indicator light goes out, if not already out, then realign until the green light is bright and steady, then retighten the wing nut. This usually takes a couple of attempts before it is back in alignment.

  2. If an indicator light is out on one or both sensors, check for a possible loose or shorted wire. Sensor wires are attached to the white and black terminals on the back or side panel of the overhead motor unit. Check that they are securely connected to each terminal. Also check the wires for any breaks, especially anywhere they are spliced together.

The most common reason for the green sensor to flash is because they are not pointed directly at one another.

  1. Check each sensor for a steady glowing indicator light. If both indicator lights are on, or if one indicator light is flickering, the sensors may be slightly misaligned. Liftmaster formula 1 garage door opener keeps "bouncing" open

If the door reverses when it hits the floor it is traveling too far. Locate the 'down limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will most likely be necessary. You can always recognize a sensor problem because the main light will flash 10 times. If the main light isn't flashing it isn't a sensor problem.

Garage door will not go down

The only thing that will cause the main light to flash 10 times and the door to reverse to the open position is a door sensor problem. Check to make sure one of the sensors is not blinking ever so slightly. It can be hard to see. Also make sure direct sunlight is not hitting the lens. Try shading them.

Doors open but will not close

Check the laser. Make sure that the safety lasers are properly alligned, If the bottom sensors next to the floor on the door rails sounds like it has been moved and just needs to be realigned. Pretty simple work to take care of the problem unless the sensor is broken

Garage door opener will not go down.

After reading the responses I went out and looked at the sensors, but this time instead of aligning up and down I moved the one sideways and WOOHOO! the remote works fine now.

Door ups and downs

Holding the button down just bypasses the sensors.
Your sensors are not adjusting correctly, or there is a short in the wires.
The back of the machine has a little yellow light, count the flashes and corelate it to the troubleshooting portion of the manual to confirm.

The orange light is a constant, the green sensor needs to be adjusted until you get a solid green light.
