Question about Hoover F7425-900 SteamVac V2 Widepath Upright Vacuum

Cleaning brush assembly on steamvac

I've lost the manual for my F7425-900 steam vac and am trying to clean it before I put it up. I've gotten the brush unit off of the bottom of the steam vac, and there is a lot of lint and dirt in between the brushes and crammed up into the brush unit. Does this unit come apart? It looks like it should, but I can't figure it out.

Re: Cleaning brush assembly on steamvac

Yes this does come apart. The clear plastic pieces clip into the black plastic piece, flat tip screw driver inserted into the gap can release the clips and allow for cleaning.

When i put the top compartment in my hoover water leaks everywhere and no water will come out when i hit the button i've used my steam vac twice since i bought it and this is a load of **** tht its not...

the hoses and nooks and crannies need to be checked if it is plugged up from previous cleaning. Turn the machine upside down, sideways, look in the hoses with a flash light. do not run your machine if water has gotten into the motor. be careful and unplug the unit before you check all this out. hope this helps. There are smaller pipe cleaner brushes that can get up in the hose and pull out the grime that you can buy at your local hardware store.

Brush Disassembly Hoover STEAM VAC Owners Manual F9514-900 (F9514900) does not
explain how to take the brush assembly apart. The instructions are as

Figure 1 shows the key

features. There are two
clear plastic outer pieces

which are held onto the

white inner piece with 3

tabs each. The clear

plastic tabs go underneath

the corresponding white

extended tabs on the white

plastic inner piece.

Figure 2 shows where the

screwdriver is inserted

(flat blade) and gently

pushed down while pulling

the clear plastic outer
piece away from the inner

white piece.

unit. Note extended brush

axle goes in center, which

fits into the female drive

unit on the shampooer.
I used the hose nozzle out

on the lawn to direct high

trying to get the hair out

of the brushes. Hair and

fuzz remarkably entrained

in brushes, but I got 90% of it out.

Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.

Brushes do not spin

The manual suggests cleaning the filter screen near the brush assembly. This is located on the bottom of the unit. In cleaning this it did not successfully help. I then proceeded to take the cover (blue) off the motor an brush drive and worked my way to the gear assembly. This is where I found the actually problem.

The problem: The brushes are driven by a turbine wheel operated with suction from the vacuum. In my unit the turbine and bearings became loose or slipped to the point that the worm gear lost contact with the additional gears that drive the brush. When resetting the assembly so that ample contact is established the unit began to operate fine.

This can be complicated to explain and illustrate therefore taking the unit in for repair is recommended. If you are confident in repairing the unit yourself then go for it.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. If you used any other cleaning solution other than Hoover, your Steam Cleaner will develop deposits in the turbine that drives the brushes. What happens is this:
Users pour other store bought brand cleaners in the reservoir to clean. Then they store the Hoover Steam Vac. While sitting in storage, the residue dries in the turbine and develops hard deposites, which ruins it. It will cost you about $100 to have the Hoover Store repair.
