Question about HP 417035-001 - HP Pavilion dv2000 Series Laptop Full Featured Intel Chipset Motherboard
There might be some dust or dirt on the laser. Take a can of air and gently blow some into the drive. This will make sure dust or specs of dirt aren't affecting the laser.
If this doesn't take care of the problem then the laser is bad and the drive needs to be replaced.
