I have a Hoover Steam Vac Deluxe Spin Scrub - Model F5862-900. The red float sucks up after the first tank and then keeps sucking up sometimes as soon as the vac is turned on. Rather than cut 3/4" off the open end of the 'sock' filter covering the float, I folded it back. It sucked up soon as the vac was turned on. Removed the 'sock' filter and it worked fine. Cannot see why this would harm anything as long as you watch the tank so as not to get too full.

Any other ideas would be helpful.

You need to clean the debris channel. Put the machine on a waist high flat surface open it and remove the dirty water container. You will see three vertical screws which lock the scroll above the motor to the clear plastic panel at the front of the machine. Open these screws and remember which one belongs where. To the left of the scroll, there is a black horizontal screw which should also be removed. If you look closely, you will see the right hand of the first three screws (brushes face to your right hand) has also released the plexiglass (clear plastic screen where you see the dirt and soap flowing at the left side. Now put the machine on its side and look at the front edge of the plexiglass just ahead of the brushes. There are two screws which have to be removed - one on each side and bingo the plexiglass shape lifts clear. Clean out the muck, check the scroll channel for similar muck and reassemble.

The muck is plugging the dirt path and fooling the red float that the tank is full.

Re assemble the reverse of the disassembly procedure. Do not use a power screwdriver as you will likely shear the screw heads.

Good luck,

AMSW

Occassionly my does that. I just keep turning off and on until it stops. I would not remove the black mesh if I was you. Your black mesh may just need cleaning. I have a dog and my mesh always have hair on it. I believe that mesh serves as a filter. May not be allowing the correct air flow because it is dirty.

I seem to have found a solution to the red ball float popping up.
I removed the black mesh that covers the red ball float and just left it off. Without it the Steamvac works like new,,, although I don't know why this works but it does,,,

Don't permanently remove the filter, instead, cut approximately 3/4 of an inch off the OPEN end of it and put it back on.

Red ball stops operation why?

It is a float that signals the tank is full. It floats up as the tank fills up. When it gets to the top it cuts off the suction so it does not stuck water into the motor

Why does red ball stop operation?

Hi there! The red float is there to let you know when your dirty water tank is full and needs to be emptied. If the float is popping up and the dirty water tank is empty or not full this is an indication that the dirty water tank filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Follow the link below to order a replacement filter for you vacuum.

I have never used a shampooer before when I use it it says to empty out dirty water. I don't have any left. My tank is empty. Am I doing something wrong.

Suggest that you do the following.
Remove the TOP ("Clean water") tank. Fill it 1/2 full of water. Put the top on the clean water tank and place it back on the machine.

Release the machine handle and remove the cover of the "dirty" water tank. Inspect the back of the tank to be sure that the vacuum adapter in located in the rear of the dirty water tank. If not-that is your problem. If yes, restore the top to the dirty water tank.

Power the machine on.
On a kitchen floor, power the machine on. Pull the trigger and hold it for about 30 seconds. You should see water gathering around the brushes. If not, that is a problem.

With water around the brushes, release and lower the handle and and move the machine over the water. It should vacuum the water into the dirty water tank.
Is all of that happening?

The red ball pops up periodically; why is that?

The red ball is the float/shutoff for full tank. That prevents water from overflowing and being sucked in to the vacuum motor. When the float shuts off the vacuum to the tank, the tank needs removed and emptied of dirty water. The float may get activated prematurely if the foam sock around it is dirty. It may be removed and rinsed.

Automatic shutoff red ball in recovery tank rises to top when recovery tank is about 20% full. Thus we are only able to use the steam cleaner for about 2 minutes before having to empty the recovery tank....

Your cleaner should have a foam sock around the float cage in the recovery tank. Remove the foam sock and rinse it out with clean water. If these are very dirty, they may cause the airflow to be disrupted, causing the float to raise prematurely.

No suction on the bissell lift-off revolution

I had the same problem. In the water resevoir, there is a red flap that allows the dirty water to flow back into the water tank. Lift that flap up and there is a small red screen. Pop that screen out with a butter knife and rinse it out. I have dogs in my house and that screen was blocked by dog hair. I cleaned the screen, popped it back in and it works like a new machine. You would think Bissell would address this roblem on their web site but they don't.

Float problem with Hoover Steam Vac Deluxe

This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
