Question about Sylvania 6427FF TV

Sylvania 27 inch stereo flat screen tv

I was watching my 2 year old Sylvania 27" flat screen tv and heard a static type sound, then the picture had red horizontal lines with a red tinted background. No previous problems at all. What could the possible problem be and is it worth fixing.

Re: Sylvania 27 inch stereo flat screen tv

This problem sounds like a short inside the picture tube itself unless a driver transistor failed that drives the red gun in the CRT. You may have to take it to an authorized repair facility if the picture tube is still in warranty.

seriously its a difficult problem, well sometimes the system control needs a heat-up by resoldering it. or caused by the flyback and the horizontal transistor. reply me if the problem persist. ^.^

Sylvania 27 in tv picture

It sounds like your vertical has shrunk, causing the picture to look squashed. Most likely a bad component in the vertical output stage.

Speakers have died?

Probaby the stereo decoder IC went bad or a supply voltage to it is too low or noisy. If it has audio output jacks on the back of the TV, connect it to an external amplifier and see what that sounds like. If it is ok in stereo or mono mode then the amplifier in the TV is bad. This will prove that the stereo decoder is ok.
