Question about Euro-Pro Shark 60 - 384
Reverse stitch is broken. I went to sew a few stitches backwards, the handle went loose and now my machine is stuck in reverse mode for stitching. I can't get the front cover off to see if its a screw loose or more. Repair shops want $100.00 to fix it... anyone know how to get the front cover off?

Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)
It happened to me (pc o crap singer model)

SOURCE: backward stitching
Knowing which kind of machine you have helps alot. Just guessing but maybe the reverse mechanism is stuck and needs some oil in it to free it up. Or the buttonhole mechanism is stuck in reverse part of it.
Probably you should have it looked at.

SOURCE: will not feed material or sew
Before you take it to a repair shop make sure that your one step buttonhole lever has not been moved by mistake. That happened to me just yesterday. If your machine keeps sewing in reverse all the time that could be your problem. It happened when I was going over all the parts in my sewing class. Although material was feeding through but everything was sewing in reverse. Check that out and make sure your buttonhole lever (#14) on the diagram is pushed up. I don't know if that is your problem but it is something you can try.

SOURCE: Elna machanical sewing machine
50 year old elnas made stitches by cams. look to see if the machine has a cam in it. you can see this by opening lid on top of machine. cams are black with red or white showing the pattern of the cam. could also have broken cam stack gear. That would require technician with elna experience
