SOURCE: whirlpool over the range microwave

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine)

(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

SOURCE: We have the GE JVM130H

Hi, W/D here.

Here's an easy way to calculate your cubic feet: measure and multiply (in inches) the width X depth X height, then divide by 1728. This will give you cubic feet.
For example, if a microwave measured 18" wide X 18" deep X 12" high, it would be 3888 cubic inches; divided by 1728 (cubic inches in one cubic foot) = 2.25 cu.ft.

SOURCE: GE microwave over the range, model #jvm1740sm1ss has no power.it's only two year old.what could be the cause?

Hello,

the problem of this unit is power related.

First, remove the unit's power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may cool by then and might power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.

If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.

When electric current comes from the power outlet into the cooker, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the unit. So if the cooker doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the machine.

So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.

If any machine or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

SOURCE: What is the serial # range for GE Spacemaker microwaves vintage 1984-1985

That would be difficult to track down, but you can use a universal door switch "open or closed " selection making it handy, some tv repair shops still may carry some parts, appliance repairman another choice.

I'm trying to convert a over the range frigidaire microwave that is 30" by 15.5" by 15" into cubic feet.

generally speaking you buy and OTR microwave by width, i.e., 30" wide is the standard width of all most all OTR . so any 30' wide microwave will fit. when talking about cubic feet, they usually are talking about the interior capacity of the microwave. but if you really want to know cubic feet of above dimensions, then multiply all three together and divide by 1728. (4.036 cuft)

I need to replace my over the range GE microwave Model # JVM1330WW002 and don't know what size/capacity it is?

Get cubic foot size by multiplying height x width x depth.
Divide that by 1728. If oven is 12 x 12 x 12 then it's exactly 1 cubic ft.
If 6 x 6 x 6 then it's 1/2 cubic ft or. 50 cu ft

WHAT IS THE CUBIC FEET OF JVM1339WB-002 GE MICROWAVE SPACE SAVER?

Determining the cubic feet of any given appliance, Microwave, Oven, Freezer or Refrigerator is quite simple.
Follow these steps.

Open the door of your microwave and measure the length, width and height in inches of the interior cavity.
Multiply the length by the width by the height using a calculator to get the total in cubic inches.
Divide the cubic inches by 1,728, which is the volume of a cubic foot. The resulting number will be your microwave's measurement in cubic feet. You can also use an online conversion calculator to simplify matters

Hope that helps

Size of older GW Microwave

If you want to calculate the volume of an object and have the answer in cubic feet.

Volume=Length X Width X Height
With the dimensions you give
Volume=12.5in X 37in X 20in
Volume=9250 cubic inches

To convert 9250 cubic inches into cubic feet you need to understand that there are 1728 cubic inches in 1 cubic foot.
L X W X H = 12"X12"X12"=1728 cu in

You then multiply 9250cu in and (1/1728cu ft) Really you are dividing 9250 by 1728.
your answer is 5.35 cubic feet.

12 inches in 1 foot
144 square inches in 1 square foot
1728 cubic inches in 1 cubic foot

to convert you put the unit you want to keep on top of the dividend.
to conver to to feet ( randomly selecting 100 inches)
Example converting 100 inches to feet

100inches X ____1ft____ = (100/12) = 8.3 feet
12inches

or cubic inches to cubic feet
4000 cubic inches to cubic feet

4000cu in X ____1cu ft____ = ( 2.33 cu ft)
1728 cu in

if you notice that the units on top and bottom of the dividend cancel each other out leaving the numerator (top number) as your unit.
it also works in reverse

2.33 cu ft X ___1728 cu in____ = (4000 cu in)
1cu ft
