Question about Samsung SIR-S4040R DirecTV DTV Receiver / 35-Hours Video Recorder

1 Answer

I unplugged the power cord by accident. Now it doesn't work.

I unplugged my receiver from the power by accident and after I plugged it back, it doesn't want to work. The fan is running and I can see the red light coming from the optical audio input. On the front of the receiver the power light is off. Now, this receiver has no power button. Only a stand by button. Somebody knows how to make it work again?

Ok. I posted this problem. And I got it working again. This is what I did: I unplugged it from the power for 2 hours to demagnetized the unit. Then I plugged it back to the power and pressed the stand by button for 10 seconds. Nothing happened yet. But, after like 30 minutes the power light was back on. I turned the TV on and I had signal and everything else. All my saved programs were there.

It's just reacquiring all the viewable channels little by little but after one hour I got like 80% of them.

I'm not sure if this procedure is the one for this problem, but it worked for me. So, if you have this problem, give it a try. What's there to lose??

What could be the cause of the receiver act like it's not plugged in? No lights or anything.

Is the outlet live? Does something else plugged into the same outlet work?

Does the receiver have a master power switch on the back that may have been switched off by accident.

Some - not all receivers have user replaceable fuses. If you do not see a fuse holder on the receiver near where the power cord attaches then you may need to open the chassis to see if there are replaceable fuses on the power supply board inside. Follow where the power cord connects to the chassis. It will lead to a board with a transformer that changes high voltage to the low voltage that the receiver needs to operate.

IF there are user replaceable fuses inside they will be on the power supply board.

PLEASE make sure that the unit is unplugged and has been for some time as the transformers sometimes stores residual voltage that will harm you. Don't do this unless you know what you are doing inside the unit. I recommend novices just take it to the repair center.

Also - IF you replace with the wrong fuse type and rating you can cause further damage to your unit.

Good luck and be careful.

My 1507 singer machine wont power on

try unplugging the power cord & then plugging it back into
the machine to make sure it's getting the right connection.
if it still doesn't come on then the machine needs to be checked to
see what's wrong with it. cause if it's not the power cord it could be
the on off switch.

Mysony wega KDP-57WS655 press power button straight to standby flashing 10 times

Indicates a problem with the high voltage circuit. You could try unplugging the power cord, plug it back in and try again. If that doesn't work unplug the power cord again but leave unplugged for at least five hours and try again. Still doesn't work find a local repair shop that works on sony tvs and have them fix it for you.

When recording the sound is distorted

I saw your post, bmbkiones, and I'd like to help you with it! Make sure all connections on the back of the receiver and TV are hand-tight secure. If the problem is still happening, unplug the receiver's power cord from the outlet for at least ten seconds and then plug it back in. If that doesn't fix it, let me know what type of receiver you have. The model number can be found on the front panel in the bottom left corner. Also, what type of connection do you have from the receiver to the TV?

Hope that helps!

My toshiba laptop won't turn on!

Place the battery back in and the power cord. Follow the power cord all the way to the plug and verify nothing was unplugged by accident. (the box on the plug sometimes disconnects without the user knowing it) This could have caused your lack of power. Hope this helps.

It keeps turning off

The audio output ICs or transistors are blown. Solid state elctronics are not very forgiving when they are shorted. it takes one tiny instantance and the componets will fry. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will need to have this unit serviced or replaced, And never ever work on any type of electronics with the power still on. Good Luck
