Keyboard won't work on startup after installing new msi mobo

I just installed a brand new p6n sli platinum msi motherboard and when turning on the video works but the keyboard lights blink then keyboard is non responsive, ps/2 keyboard is what i'm using. It is asking me to press tab or delete but cannot do so as the keyboard won't respond. I've checked for bent prongs and have even tried spare keyboard.

Thanks for the response but I had already cleared the CMOS. It has a button on the mobo to push while all power is off. Could it be that I need a USB keyboard?

Bought new usb keyboard and still stuck on the screen that wants me to press tab or delete. Keyboard is definetly on but when I press either button the system stays the same. It isn't responding to either usb or ps/2 keyboards. Beginning to think I have a junk mobo.

Iam getting an exchange on mobo. It appears after talking with MSi that they have an issue with bios. So hopefully the new mobo won't do the same.

I know this may sound crazy, but are you sure you are plugging into the right port? If so, then the next step is to wipe the CMOS so you can start on a clean slate. Remember to practice ESD or you may blow your motherboard. Static electricity is easily generated and pc components are sensitive to this. Once the system comes on go to the BIOS setup menu and make your changes as necessary.

OK, did not mean to offer bad advice, but you had not explained the particulars, at this point it might be prudent to flash the motherboard and if this does not work then I would have to agree with your assessment.

The latest revision was 07/29/08. Since you have stated the USB keyboard didn't work it definitely sounds like your BIOS is corrupted. Did you ever get this machine up and running? Good luck.

MSI P6N Platinum not booting up

Have you plugged in the additional power supply connectors to this board at JPW1 (under the heatpipes towards the rear connector panel)? If not then you need an 8 pin 12V power supply from your PSU to this connector (This is what powers your CPU). If you don't have an 8 pin connector, you can get away with a standard 4 pin. It will only fit in one way, so you'll know.
It may sound like a daft solution, but you'd be amazed how many people forget to plug this connector in on this and similar boards.

No beep,No Display on my monitor, only CPU heatsink fan is moving

You motherboard has onboard video. It's possible it needs to be disabled and the option changed to use the pci or pci-express slot for the Ati card you installed. Since you have no post error beeps this is the best place to start. Also I had built a system not to long ago and had a similar problem. Resetting the cmos on the motherboard (usually a pin combo) solved the issue.

Start by hooking up your vga cable to the onboard video.

Hope this helps.

No video & keyboard wont light up. MSI p6n sli platnium

It sounds to me like you are right with the motherboard being bad, however, before you try that, try re-seating the memory. Also, try just putting 1 memory stick in. If you do both of those and still nothing, then I would definitely look into getting a new motherboard because that probably is your problem.

SLI

Make sure you have installed the latest Nvidia drivers. Get them from Nvidia's web site, not the included disk. Make sure "Enable SLI" is selected in Nvidia control panel. Re-seat both cards and the SLI bridge. BTW what Mobo do you have?

MSI K9N4 SLI-F / Vid Card question

Hi, for the best graphics always go for dual graphic cards. This is the best way to obtain realistic 3D effects. The onboard audio chips is every bit as good as stated, MSI systems are equal to the best but at a lower price. The only change I can see that you need to make is to install a better power supply. A minimum 500w is needed with your system and if your budget allows then anthing up to 600w. Have fun with your games. Regards mistyman
