This is for any pin that is in the shape of a half moon (if you remove the broken knob and are looking at it from the top view, it looks like a half moon).

Get a piece of wood. (I made mine 1" x1"x1". Some craft supply stores sell wooden balls/beads of various sizes that will work ).

Drill a hole in the center of the wood the same diameter as the existing pin that is remaining on the fan or a/c. (Place the drill bit next to the pin to measure and find the closest diameter).

Cut a wooden dowel of the same diameter as the drill bit, to a length a little longer than the cube of wood or wood piece you are using.

Split this dowel in half. (I used a single edged razor blade and hammer. Mine did not split perfectly, so I sanded it in half).

Place this half dowel into the hole you just drilled into the piece of wood.

Test drive it by placing it over the existing pin. (Re-drill the hole and replace the dowel if needed)

Turn it on and off a few times.

Make any adjustments to fit.

Glue the dowel in place. (Put something into the half moon hole to get it tight while the glue dries, like toothpicks or an awl)

Cut off any extra length of the dowel.

Paint the cube of wood to match the item if desired.

I did not glue my new knob to the pin because it was very snug and I can always replace it again if this gets loose or breaks in the future.

The fan speed control switch on my 2004 freestar was put on incorrectly. How do I take it off to adust where it is pointing to?

Well, this is a strange question. I guess you have the knobs and not the buttons. Normally, the knob can only go on one way. If someone forced the knob on the wrong way, you can pull straight out on it and it will come right off its shaft. Just hope no one glued it on.

The twisty knob switch could have been installed into the climate control cluster incorrectly. Once you pull the knob off the shaft, the position of the flat spot on the shaft will be obvious, as well as if the knob was rigged to fit. If the knob looks ok and so does the shaft, you will need to pop off the trim surrounding the climate controls and the radio. This will expose the screws that hold the climate control to the sub-dash. Remove the screws and pull the cluster out of the dash far enough to get behind the fan switch. The switch snaps into the cluster from behind.

The single zone control variant is even simpler, it's part of the trim bezel that wraps around the radio. Less screws to remove.

Once you get the cluster apart, you may find that someone jimmied the switch or cluster. This assembly is 99 percent plastic, so if something is snapped off, cracked or broken, you can either do a plastic repair or replace the whole cluster.

After you take the assembly apart once, it will be easy to do the same at a salvage yard. Just call around to the u-pull-it yards and find one near you. While you are there, grab some more parts off of the donor van to fix yours. The grand total will be less than the price of a new switch.

Good luck and please mark my answer as helpful. 25358000-u40lsvyytnuesyuv3fbafhtd-2-0.jpg

Looking for the black plastic knob on the speed control for my Kitchenaid Professional 6 (KP2671XOB) stand mixer

Fashion another knob out of something similar looking and bond it onto the shaft with epoxy resin. Think of another appliance that may have a black knob on it....a toaster knob maybe. A knob off an old fashioned heater control in a car.

On/off swith knob broken

Is it the actual knob that is broken or the little tab the knob holds onto that is broken. You either need a replacement knob or a replacement switch assuming the know is also the thermostat for the unit. Does that same knob control the fan speed? Temprature or timer?

The temperature control does not change when the fan is turned up. if i want to change the temperature from hot to cold, i have to turn down the fan, listen for the switch in the dash and then turn the...

I can tell you about my experience on my 1999 F150. I do not believe it is the blower control switch because mine went out and only affected the fan speed. On my truck, in an incident like yours, I could not get a good response from the temperature switch.

I would turn the control and it would hit a stop on both ends, but the temperature would not change to match the switch. What I found is the stem of the temperature control did not turn because the knob cracked behind the switch. There is a half-moon shaped metal clip inside the plastic temperature knob. The clip can spin when the knob is cracked and nothing moves right.

Because the plastic knob has molded stops under the knob, from the drivers point of view, the knob was turning lock to lock. In reality, the stem was not turning. Try taking the knob off and turning the stem with pliers wrapped in cloth to protect the plastic. Then see if the temperature changes.

Hello .. you should be able to find a replacement for your fan control at any building supply store, a home depot type store. Look or ask for a variable speed fan control. This is slightly different from a normal liight dimmer . You might also look for a replacement knob before replacing the whole switch, or matbe getting a replacement just to replace the knob ..

Broken Knob for fan control

once you take off the front housing, the switch itself shoud be easy to remove and replace...sometimes, a used appliance store/repair office can get a suitable replacement part. Trick is to mark the wires as you remove them from the switch and take hte switch with you while you go part hunting. Also would help to have model and serial number (and brand name) noted to take along. Papdaddy
