Question about White Sewing Sewing Machines

Open Question

Need to know what I purchased

I just purchased a White brand sewing machine and the only numbers I could find to even remotely be able to find a manual for it is 35062 which is right on the plate with the information...It also says "Straight Stitcher".
Is there anyway you could help me find out when this machine was made, and if I could still possibly get a manual for it?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: white sewing machine model 1762

You can download White manuals from Singer. Just go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and type W in the search box. The next page will be a list of White machines with manuals available. They may not have the exact model (as in my case), but there will be a similar one. I had to email White-Viking to be redirected to Singer....

If it was purchased second-hand, very likely something is wrong with the machine or the owner didn't know how to use it. It is always best to test and have the owner show you how to use the machine before purchasing. From the information found online, this is a very economical level sewing machine--even new.

JMHO, but purchasing an old mechanical machine from a sewing machine shop for $60 would probably yield a more reliable machine. For most sewing, a straight stitch and zig-zag are the most frequently used stitches. So, if you are unable to purchase an upper-scale machine with multiple built-in design stitches for several hundred dollars, stick with a simple mechanical.

Is this machine high or low shank, and is there a walking foot available?

What kind of sewing machine is it? What is the model number? If it's a Singer, you can go to Singer.com and find out what you need to know, or if it's a White, go to White.com, or type in whatever brand it is with a .com and you should get your answers.

eBay has lots of sewing machine feet and your brand of sewing machine dealer will have the feet that will fit your machine the best. You need to know whether you have a low shank or high shank before you purchase presser feet for your machine. Good Luck, if I can help further, pls let me know.
