Probably need to install the software that came with the Belkin card first. Make sure the card is NOT plugged in when you install from the CD. After that, restart your computer and make sure the card is now plugged in. Also, you need to set the router and belkin card with the same settings.

this is wireless (wifi) receiver
the first you need is wifi connection around your computer
if there any wifi connection aroud you, at your computer open and search the available wifi connection, then chose connect
and you can connect internet after you connect your belkin to wireless connection

Make sure credentials are same with the router. Alternately you can reconfigure the router with new network key that you can use for your wireless card as well

Belkin Wireless notebook network card question

From another user on Fixya..

"you may have another wireless connection other than your own set as automatic, or more than one connection in your settings of the same name, so right click on your network icon in your task bar or in network connections in device manager and select view all wireless connections, click on it and when all the connections show, highlght, delete all of them, then close the window.

Your notebook should now indicate that it found new wireless connections, click on the popup and select your connection name and click connect, at this point you will be asked to enter the passkey if you have security enabled."

give it a try, might help. Rgds,
