Question about Saeco V-spresso Espresso Machine

2 Answers

Recently, the amount of coffee has decreased significantly. I have tried cleaning and adjusting the settings with no luck. It seems like there is water that is being emptied into the overflow tray even after it has finished the rinsing cycle, and has been emptied. I have emptied the tray completely and then dried it out just to see if the water is leaking from somewhere. Just making a single shot of espresso barely coats the bottom of the cup. But then when I pull out the tray, the water has collected in there again. I have had this for several years, but have never had an owners manual. I don't know what to do. Please help, I need and love my V-Spresso!!!!

Follow the instructions to Descale the machine. I have the same machine and also found the Grinder works best at 12.

My tp305 removes more wood on the left than on the right. There does'nt seem to be anmy way to adjust this, is there?

These portable planers have a not-negligible amount of flex to them, and you will probably remove a bit of wood even if you run the board through a second time on the same side. But try this to determine if you would want to try to reset the blade height---- run two narrow pieces simultaneously on the left and right. Check the thickness before and after with calipers or something precise. Then switch the two boards and run them again without changing the setting. If it is only cutting on one side, and the thickness was significantly different before the second run, then you might want to adjust the blades in the cutter-head.
Good luck.

Coffee is too weak

Hi there,
I just spoke to someone at customer service. My coffee has been weak and kind of thin. We had the Superautomatica by Saceo for years and I remembered the coffee being richer.
Anyway! The person suggested that I adjust the grind but slowly. So set it to the coarsest setting, brew 2-3 cups. Then put it to the 2nd-coarsest setting, brew 2-3 cups. To the third, brew 2-3 cups. To the forth, brew 2-3 cups. Etc. Until you're at the finest grind setting. Again, brew 2-3 cups. An awfully sensitive machine. It seems to have worked although the last few seconds of brewing continue to be a kind of milky colour (as opposed to a deep black coffee colour). You can, though, press the "cup" button to stop the brew. So once, it starts running milky, you can stop the cycle.
I hope this helps. I know I've been struggling and cursing the machine for a while :)

Rancilio Silva - coffee lost its punch

Try backwashing the group with purocaff.
Are you using coffee ground at the store or do you grind just before use?
How fresh is the coffee less than a month or more?
If more than a month(whole beans) it is no longer useful.
If more than a 3 days(ground), that is stale also. It will be very diffucult to get good espresso from that(not impossible, but difficult).

If using store ground, it cannot be ground older than a week(coffee loses flavor and taste minutes after being ground). Try getting less coffee more often and adjust the grind setting that you use. If you have always used setting 3 on the store grinder try 2.5.
If grinding at home adjust the settings on the grinder to a slightly coarser grind and fill the portafilter slightly over the top of the basket, now tamp to the indent(fill line) in the basket. that should be sufficient to pull a great shot.

Waterflow/heat seems fine - but little/no extraction

Try running the gro;up without the portafilter in place, what does the water flowq look like: is it a nice strong flow or barely a dribble. If if is barely a dribble, backwash machine with purocaff and check shower screen, that may be clogged. If you have a nice flow then try adjusting the grind on the coffee grinder.

WEAK espresso from Saeco Vienna!

Well, when you set it that low it allows the water to pass very quickly and if the water passes very quickly there may not be sufficient time to absorb the coffee; hence weak coffee. The setting should be reset to the middle, at 10, and tried again. Then, if you want to change it move it only one or two numbers for enough cups to see if there is any change before you move it a large number. Going higher or lower makes it pass more or less quickly with results accordingly.
You may also have the dose set too low and you may want to set it higher increasing the amount of coffee in each dose.
Then again, since it was used, you don't know if the machine was taken apart by someone who reinstalled the machine with the dials you are using out of whack with where they should be set.
