Re: It appears that it is saying that it is hot.
If your player is overheating, it is pretty much dead. try contacting Panasonic to at least report this, in-case they may know there is an issue. overheating can be caused by an electrical-short and may eventually cause fire -failures which usually require a safety-recall and you will get a replacement.
if your player is on top of a Television, remove it and see if it still has the problem.

hi remember that electric can kill you even if it is unplugged, if you don't know what components are likely to hold charge or have large inductance get someone else to fix it.
you need to get the service manual as tis will have fault finding charts, part numbers, location of sensors etc. If you can't get manual then: Not likely to be temp limiter as this cuts out if temp is too hot. Find temp probe, may be ntc, mercury vapour switch etc. take probe out disconnect leads and measure resistance, heat, or cool, probe measure resistance if not significantly different (ie 10k to 100k or 100k to 300k) then probe is shot. Take probe to spares place, get replacement and refit. Be very careful to refit leads exactly as they came out, don't want insulation to melt and oven to become live. test with oven or meat thermometer as new sensor may need calibration. Should be accurate to within 10C or so
While many owners manuals are available online, it appears yours is not. Toyota.com says to call their Material Distribution Center at 1-800-622-2033 to order owners manuals, repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and other technical reference documents. It doesn't say if there is a fee, or how much.
Another site: Helm, Inc.has owners manuals for a fee. Might be cheaper than Toyota.
If you are just looking for maintenance schedules, Edmunds.com has a Maintenance page with manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, recalls, and technical service bulletins for your car. Good luck.
(1)So it's really overheating and not just SAYING it's hot, right?Because the gauge CAN go bad in the dashboard. Well, you didn't list the(2) electric fan, whether it's coming on or not? (3)And if the fan is working, the only thing left is a plugged radiator on a Taurus. A plugged radiator is best serviced at a radiator shop or you can buy a new one at Auto-Zone fairly cheap(150.00 or so). (:^) don-ohio
